I wish I still had my grandparents. Now, I'm older, I would have created a lot of sweet memories with them and even documented it, so it stood the test of time.
Yet, I'll love to attempt this prompt which brought back some cherished memories.

I was only lucky enough to meet my maternal parents. They were everything any grandchild would have asked for.
They were strong, wise, fun to be with and very prayerful.
Starting with my grandma. I remember when I was in high school, she came to leave with us for almost a year.
Grandma suffered from the early stage Dementia at some point. Despite it, she protected me and my siblings at any slightest opportunity.
One day, my cousin came to visit us. He requested for water, although he was very small as at then. I was in the bathroom , so I heard grandma rushed off to the store to get a gallon.
She innocently poured the content into a cup and gave it to my little cousin. After, he had drunk the content in the cup, he started to palpitate few minutes later.
My siblings rushed out and began screaming, it turned out that my grandma mistakenly gave him Kerosene.
She cried so much, and everyone was scared to the bone. My cousin was rushed to the hospital where he was given an antidote.
My grandma felt so guilty and couldn't forgive herself. I and my siblings made her get over it, by letting her know, we knew she didn't do it intentionally. It was because of her health status and we loved her so much regardless. Thankfully, my cousin recovered and we were all happy. Grandma fondly spoke of her husband at any opportunity she got. Some days, she'll pack her luggage and tell us she was going to see her husband. We all laughed because we knew she was in Lagos for medical treatment and it was impossible for her to go to the village on her own.
I was excited to come home to my grandma after school, even though her health declined. She was so beautiful and very much fun to be with.
My grandpa on the other hand was a very jovial man. He was our storyteller. Whenever I went to the village to visit him, he would sit on his rocking chair, and tell us tales by moonlight.
He was a hunter too. He brought bush meats home every time he went hunting and was greatly fond of me.
He told me never to be wayward, taught me to obey my parents, and prayed for me everytime.
One of the fondest memories of him was, the last time I visited him in the village. He asked me to sit on his lap and fed me like a baby. A special dish prepared by him for me. I had special treats whenever I went visiting.
Unfortunately, death stole these precious souls from me, and I understand that nobody really lives forever.
All the values they taught me still lives with me, and everytime I see their picture frame, I feel proud, honored and blessed to have met them even though for a short while.
images used belongs to me.
