Fall-in Down

Fall is here and it is great. I love the nice temps and the colors of the leaves as they change. There is all the little squirrels and chipmunks in the neighborhood running around doing their last minute gathering before winter comes. It is so much fun to take it all in as I walk in the morning or evening now.

In fact, it is starting to get a bit to nippy to walk in my shorts and t-shirt in the morning now. I may have to break out my warmer clothing or change my walking time already. Speaking of which, the walking is really coming along. I have not tried a longer distance yet, but ave been picking up the pace substantially. In fact, the last time I almost fell on my face, so need to slow it down some.

Speaking of falling down, I was in the garage a couple days ago and for some reason made a sharp move and my right leg gave out on me. It caused me to fall backwards. Luckily nothing was hurt but my pride and a small bruise on my butt. NOt sure what happened, I guess my leg just didn't like the way I twisted or something.

Anyway, with Autumn here, the wife put out our usual decorations. Of which you can see one in the picture above. It is a painting she did a few years back of a scarecrow. I helped her of course, but also stayed out of her way at the same time. It was a fine balancing act for sure :-).

We were going to work on the yard this week, sowing new grass seed fillling in bare spots and holes in the yard with fill dirt. However, her Uncle passed away and she will be leaving town for a few days for the funeral. I would like to do some of that work myself while she is away, but she insists I should not without anyone here to watch over me. I may do a little anyway as I know it will get boring around here doing shit for nothing.

Now that I am feeling better it seems there is much more joy in things like the changing of the seasons and all the color it brings. I even find myself sitting on the back patio with the wife more than usual in the morning and for longer periods. We enjoy taking in the dogs playing, throwing the ball for them, listening to the birds, watching the squirells occasionally and looking at what is left of the flowers.

Life is good!

Hope you had a good start to your week.

Gosh the older you get the less SPECTACULAR the injuries are. Like when you're younger it's like 'I slid down the mountain and broke a leg against a tree whilst racing my mate' and now it's 'i don't know I just walked funny'.

Thats no joke. Then again In used to do some crazy ass shit and wouldn't get a scratch. Now I can't put on my underwear without it being a balancing act equal to an olympic gymnatics event.

I hate that, hey, everyone says you need to keep fit as you get older so you can get your underpants on all by yourself. First you do puberty, then menopause. Then it's the toddler/old folk connection - falling over, crying, and dribbling. Great stuff.

Fall is my favorite time of year. Just recently things are starting to feel fall like. It took a lot longer than usual here. I feel the pride thing, its part of life and hard one to swallow when things like that happen.

Speaking of squirrels I witnessed a hawk take one out on the property. Second time, first was a sparrow. The hawk may be around for awhile now that it has got some food. Expected I guess I live in Hawkeye state.

I think Fall is my second favorite next to Spring. It took longer here as well. We had a hawk or some type of birfd of prey around here a while back. Scared the crap out of me once because it swooped out of the trees in the neighbors yard and right over the top of us by about 6 feet.

Careful with your butt!
Now that is a scary looking scarecrow and a cool painting by your wife.

Glad it was my butt because it has some cushion, haha. Not sure how scary that scarecrow is, but I agree, it is a good painting.

lol there is something to be said for a well cushioned butt 🤣

Though I don't experience that change of season I can imagine how it could be. Hehehe. Should you be more careful next time to avoid this kind of happening😬

oh you are missing it, it is so beautiful.

That stinks that you fell. It seems to happen more and more. We were camping in winter coats this past weekend.

Oh, it's no big deal. it just hurt my ego. We were just talking about how we hope these 60 and 70 degree temps hang on for a while.

I wouldn't mind either.

Sorry to hear about her uncle. I guess she wants to be around to make sure you don't kill yourself with those holes while she's gone! lol

Autumn is most certainly arriving, even there in southern California it's a bit cooler. Fortunately it never really gets cold!

I would just like to throw down the seed and take care of the bare spots, which I still might do. YEah, we lived in SoCal for a couple years back in the early 90s. I was stationed at Pendleton. The weather there is nice.
