Perhaps this season, we'll actually have lemons off this baby that managed to survive the drought. Assuming the south easter leaves everyone alone.
I am done with winter and this is a more than welcome sign of spring. I am in a funk. Monday was a rollercoaster day of emotions. It seems that it's not just I who's struggling to hang on for the last swoop and a gentle landing.
I struggled to focus yesterday, and reflecting on what I achieved realised there were a couple of small wins. A positve response I got some high praise in response to suggestions relating to a very small project I have a part in. It could result in the brief being extended. At the risk of sounding jaundiced, I am not getting too excited. This is the client that asked about availability with a view to a retainer. Four months ago. I am done with hurry-up-and-wait. To use another cliché, one can tread water for only so long before drowning.
Then, homework done on best sources and delivery options, I ordered jars for my market fare, denuded the bank account and arranged delivery. Theoretically, I will have them tomorrow, ready for Friday's kitchen day.
Finally, I drafted a small piece ready for panel beating to send off today or tomorrow.

Even supper was uninspired leftover roast chicken, gravy, butternut and, for The Husband, potato, of course. I simply had no inclination to get creative and fiddle.
Today, I have to find focus and ahead of our second vaccination jab, I have to believe that that other tide will eventually turn. Notwithstanding talk of a fourth wave. Before we are out of the third.

The green shoots of spring give me hope. I need the warmth (even the scorching heat, yes) and sunny light of summer. Hopefully this funk is a little like the darkest dark ahead of the dawn.
To everyone in a similar funk, I feel for you and have to believe that this, too, will pass.
Until next time, be well
Fiona

Oh boy and how I can't wait for all this to pass; way too many bumps and falls this year! But yes I do believe this too shall pass!
Although like you, I'm getting impatient now as we need to get back to some semblance of normality, and I can imagine just how you must be longing for some warmth to return!
I need a holiday with my special people so we can let down our hair, play silly old games like Rummikub and Uno, go for long walks on the beach, talk nonsense, and just forget about Covid etc etc!
Hope your 2nd vax is done quickly; I now heard talk of a booster shot! Our forms have space for one more 👀!
I just want to have a big braai and folk around in our garden - just because. Like we used to! Talk rubbish, drink wine....
I think we're all going to have to have booster shots and that card will be superseded by some form of QR code...
It's vrekkoud en nat vandag...I couldn't be happier. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I too am waiting, just waiting - taking it one day at a time
And whilst all this is up in the air, I try to fill my mind with good things lest the negativity has a field day..
All the best with the second shot
It went very well, @kaerpediem. I'm sure I'll have a tender arm tomorrow, but that's a small price to pay.
I totally understand this feeling! I've never been a fan of winter and by the end of it, tend to be pleading for spring to make an appearance. The lemon blossom is beautiful and brings hope. Everyday that you see them, a little bit more open and brighter, might improve your mood and make things seem a bit lighter.
Must say that your food looked very nice and has made me hungry. One man's trash is another man's treasure?
Yes, have the braai and the wine and some good old fashioned conversation, you know, the way things are meant to be. Spoil yourself with something nice, tomorrow is a new day :)
It's really been a rough time for so many people, hasn't it? Sometimes it's good to dig deep to find something to be grateful for, even if it's small. We are really beginning to miss seeing people and just relaxing and talking s***t! Braai, beer and wine notwithstanding!
Thanks so much for stopping by!
So rough, but you have to appreciate the things that are still good and that make you smile and make you feel alive. There is always hope for the future to be better even when it feels like this now.
Have a beautiful day Fiona
