George and Julia had been married for many years. They met in college and fell in love instantly. They became inseparable and no one was surprised when they got married right after college.
After a few years of marriage, they decided to try and have a baby, but nothing happened. They tried for many months, which eventually turned into years before Julia finally fell pregnant.
Tommy was born on their seventh wedding anniversary.
Having a baby changed their lives tremendously. Their once peaceful life was disturbed by a screaming colicky baby. George helped Julia a lot with their son and by the grace of God Tommy turned into a very pleasant little boy.
Everybody loved Tommy and most of the time he was the center of attention.
They spent every second they could together as a family. The rest of the time both George and Julia worked very hard to provide for their family.
They both had decent jobs and saved up a lot of money so that they could both retire at the age of fifty. Tommy went off to college to become a lawyer.
After Tommy left, George and Julia decided to sell their family home. They needed to go smaller as it was only the two of them. They bought a small condo at the beach and enjoyed the sunny days by either going down to the beach or to work in their lovely little garden.
They still enjoyed each other's company after so many years. They made plenty of friends in the area and had a pot luck beach party at least once a month.
During December holidays they usually went traveling because their little town was overcrowded with holiday-makers and it was just easier not to be at home.
Tommy usually came home over Thanksgiving and thereafter they usually went on some kind of adventure. They had a close to perfect life.
Tomorrow was Thanksgiving and they were both cooking up a storm in the kitchen. They were joyful and happy because they were going to see their son and they were both looking forward to the cruise they booked. In fact they were all packed and ready to go.
They were just about to settle in for the night when the phone rang. It was quite late and they were both startled. It was Tommy. He apologized for phoning so late but informed them that he was booked on an earlier flight and he was bringing them a surprise.
The next morning they were up early. They did the final preparations for Thanksgiving dinner and then drove to the airport.
They were excited about their surprise but they were even more excited to see their loving son. When Tommy appeared through the door, Julia couldn't hold back the tears. She ran to him and didn't even see the girl next to him.
Tommy stopped her in her tracks and called George to come closer. He introduced them to Lilly his fiancè. They worked at the same law firm and they were getting married in July.
Both George and Julia were overwhelmed with delight. Their son had met the girl of his dreams and they both knew that they were going to be just as happy as they were.
