Hi all, awesome Silvery Bloggers!

It's been a few days since we announced the winners of our June #BOM edition, if you haven't read the winning entries and if you missed some of the amazing posts, we encourage you to go back and read them. If you want to continue to support the authors, you can leave a tip. (The web versions of @peakd and @ecency offer this facility.

But we want to keep our Silver Bloggers active and writing in the community. We know it's sometimes hard to decide what to write about. Writer's block is one thing, so we're going to suggest a writing prompt.

Silver Prompt 2: Hobbies, crafts, and retirement

The silver years are often a good time to spend more time doing the things we love and cultivating our favorite hobbies.

But they can also be a perfect opportunity to learn hobbies and crafts that we always wanted to do but never had the chance to do them.

So...why don't you tell us about those hobbies or crafts you would like to learn in your silver years.

How to join the Silver Prompt

  • Write about a craft or hobby that you don't know much about but would like to learn in your silver years.
  • Write 100% original content of at least 300 words
  • Post in the Silver Bloggers Community and use #SilverPrompts as the first tag
  • Have fun
  • Deadline is at midnight GMT (also known as UTC) on Sunday 3 July 2022

Curation eyes over Prizes

There will be no prizes for this initiative - depending on how things unfold, that could change...or not. However, selected blogs will be included in a special #SilverPrompts curation post.

And as we have previously announced we are looking at ways to better reward current active Silver Bloggers, so could be surprising some of our Bloggers with a slice of the rewards on posts published by our community account, @hive-106316, as could be the case of the #SilverPrompts curation post.

So my advice to our Silver Bloggers is to start sharing your silvery stories with us so why not take this opportunity and join the prompt.

Bonus

Also, the bonus will be that your blogs may be selected by the moderation team and recommended to the OCD team for additional support, plus we will get to know you a little better.

Will there ever be a day that more time is on your side? Seems like as I get older, I am just as busy, if not busier than when I was chasing toddlers.

Just like always, finding a way to fit it all in is a life-long challenge! :)

But, what will I be thinking of doing? Nothing wrong with starting to plan now!

I actually feel like I have less time than ever for everything I want to do. But I wonder if that will change when my son goes to university, and I'm only a couple of months away. And surely, especially at the beginning, I will want to not have a single idle moment, hehe.
And well, it's never too late to want to learn something different, right?

It is never too late! If you have more than one child, going to university will be hard on the heart, but, it is all good and they grow. I have three, so I still struggle to find the time! Will I ever have enough? Probably not!

I only have one child. And it will be particularly hard because he won a scholarship and is moving to the US. So I'm already heartbroken to have him so far away, but I know that for him it's a great opportunity for growth in every way. And it fills me with pride.
And of course, it's never too late to learn or have new hobbies :)

My son won a scholarship far away. I cried after I went to the hotel, he was in his dorm that night... I cried so hard, the hotel upgraded me to a suite. :(

I cried all the way home. Mostly silently. But, I wasvproud and you are right. It was fun visiting and sharing in his new life.

I don't want to think about how much I'm going to cry but I can tell you that he hasn't gone yet and I've already cried a lot in silence. So I can imagine how much you cried when you left your son at college.

But one of the things I'm looking forward to is to visit him sometime and share with him in his new life. But right now, we're focusing on having enough resources so that he can come home at least once a year to spend Christmas with us.

So much to do, so little time, keeping busy with hobby or writing blogs is a wonderful way to be active in between normal running of a home, additional tasks one takes one with a smile.

It's like that, for me writing has been a nice occupation that I enjoy very much. And when I have a busy day with no time for Hive, I feel like I'm missing something ;)
But there are some hobbies that I have never practiced that I would like to try at some point.

Being outdoors in nature is biggest hobby of all, writing and photography are result. 😅

Housekeeping, cooking and everything else are have to do moments I enjoy but never photograph.

I used to like to photograph food preparation, but lately, I prefer to photograph walks, in nature or in the city. And also food that I try in other places, and not so much food that I make at home.

I only photograph outdoors preferably, never shops or the likes only nature 😅 more appealing to me.

It is a fantastic idea to have prompts, many people love a bit of inspiration to write and a prompt fits the bill.
This is a cracking topic and I am sure there will be many hobbies and crafts related posts!

They do, Super Ed. And we must try to keep the community active.
And the least I expect from you is a post about your new toy and your desire to learn more about photography.
And who knows, maybe you'll surprise me with some other hobby;)

Did I pass Super Eli!

Quite interesting.
We all got that one hobby or likeness for some crafts we did like to learn but have limited time or no chance at all to do so.
It will be a pleasure sharing that with you all.
I will jump on this right away.
