Irresistible Allure Leading To Destruction
All consuming social media, a bugbear in too many lives, thief of time filled with lies, quick perusal on X details much is fake. Hive is the only other source for some form of sharing and getting to know people on an equal footing, stopping to read what is of interest.
Local news I source from YouTube where I do follow a couple of accounts I have found to be reliable, podcasts with information using referenced links to check original source linked. News as we once had most definitely a lost art in investigative journalism offering some clarity,
Obsession to a computer in hand no longer at hand as many appear indulged in this small screen while the real world is passing each by. There is good and bad in everything, I remind myself regularly!
A curse for youth in a country where they no longer find employment yet have a small screen displaying fake lives, filling their mind with irrational thinking.
Some 'Karen's' act like keyboard warriors, this is evident in an emergency group we have locally. No thought given to blurt out what you feel, hurting many along the way who quietly help those in need with what they are able.
Smaller groups formed during lock-downs to alert/assist each other, now a couple of years along suddenly much to say.
Emergency group was who I relied heavily on when my husband had snake encounter, to them I turned for guidance and advice, calling in ambulance, snake handlers with response in under five minutes one cannot thank these brave people who simply go out to help when one cries out. Obvious frail care was required, it was the voice of a woman I had never met at the time who assisted.
Emergency services are alerted through one WhatsApp group for vehicle breakdown, home invasions, flooding, medical, fire services simply at the end of a call ladies run the control room letting services know. Even living in a region for so long ones mind races out of control, you need each other.
Personal fatal attraction once again focuses on birds visiting, enough of news overload in all it's fakeness, let's see what visited once again during the week. What I see is now showcased between my story line to relieve and relive another week gone, heralding in the last quarter of the year, flipping amazing how or where time goes.
For a plant in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN), South Africa, with "clover-like" leaves and purple or lilac flowers that is also described as a weed, it is most likely either a species of Oxalis or an indigenous Trifolium species. The term "clover" is often used informally for plants with three leaflets, even if they are not true clovers (Trifolium) Source

That's why I don't believe everything I see on social media. They can be deceiving😐
For sake of sanity best to ignore, stick to reality by going outdoors.
im not familiar with x but i agree that hive is really capable of producing quality content.
its also true that social media is full of fake and other local news pages. just now a days
I like the photos of cutiee bird 😍
Social media along with much news platforms are simply opinions, very seldom detailed research with proper links to substantiate facts.
Birds are in full swing with start of summer season here at the moment.
Thanks @brumest and @qurator team, once I find footing will support more.
Great photos! Mannikins especially liked it, it's the first time I've ever seen birds like this. I agree with you about fakes and lies.
Have enjoyed two Mannikin species this season, tiny little birds, cute as 'Punch and Judy'.
Such beautiful photos @joanstewart! And you are spot on about un-social media and people just blurting out what first comes to mind. That is why I have been limiting my online time over these last few months. I do feel it has made me healthier mentally. So glad you have those resources for emergency services though, it is the good side of socials.
Being a member, supporting our local emergency groups has reaped rewards through riots, pandemic now unstable lifestyle for many. Pity rotten apple in a basket always comes to the fore, everyone is living through uncertain times. Personally limited social media in my life for sanity sake, also get more done while I still have some time on hand.
That is so good that you are able to feel rewarded through support of your group. I too hope to get involved with emergency services once I get my amatuer radio license here.
Every little bit helps within neighbourhood watch groups, from feeding to security and everything in between, good to know your neighbours.
MSM here is controlled by our government and free speech is well and truly gone in the UK. Research research and research I have always told people, now it is even more necessary to do so. I love that pair of bronze Mannikins. Gorgeous photos as always Joan. Have a great new week.
!BEER
I look North and shake my head in bewilderment, completely out of control, not to say our side of the pond is any better.
Life carries on, make the most of enjoying it and thanks for the beer 🤣it's needed.
Yeah I think politicians the world over forget they are only here to serve the people.
times flies but i wont disrespect what internet gives us.
i believe we all have grown tremendously with the screen.
youth is not that lost and parents today, do not bring much knowledge.
families are scattered and goals have shifted.
1980's tv news and shows were not that amazing afterall
It’s truly heartwarming to read about the amazing local emergency group and the help you received during your husband’s snake encounter. Those unsung community heroes make all the difference when things spiral out of control.
Those snake encounters can be scary, I'm glad that the response was so fast through whatsapp. In Arizona every now and again we had rattlesnake visitors that required animal control to come carry off the snake to a new home!
It really is a problem when these youngsters can't find employment so decide to spread lies online for lack of anything better to do. Sad really...
Those are some beautiful birds, and I love the purple flowers to cap off the post!
They used to irritate me, now I just shake my head; their lives must be very empty! I still have to join local groups here.
Your photos are lovely, so many birds in your garden.
