Really don't mind similar workmanship, do object to mass manufacture being sold in what should be art and craft stores. Municipalities did try assisting with lockup areas for goods, earlier years may have worked now storage areas would be targets at night.

Tourists like I would be one would need assistance to regognize handcrafted goods between mass manufactured ones, I believe. I know that from other holidays where we have seen at home that we have bought much too expensive.
The world has become a dangerous place, so even many people in the small countryside village, where my parents live, lock their doors now when they leave their house to go shopping or visit their neighbors.

More established markets like this, one does have to throw caution to mass manufactured goods. Many small stores along the road you will see the craftsman sitting working.
Personally never been anywhere ever..., without locked doors at night over here. We lock them day and night now, living in our own personal prisons.

When you see the craftsman work you know what you buy, of course, and such work is worth the money.
Hm, my parents used to let the door open when they were outside the house in the garden. When they were out of sight or visiting a neighbor or so, they closed the door so that visitors knew that they were not at home at the moment. And when they went shopping or have been away for longer for another reason, they locked the door and hid the key. So, if a neighbor wanted to bring them something they could get in and leave it in the house. Nowadays they take more care and lock the door more often and also they hide the key better 😀

When we were young back door stood open during daylight, now if you in or out you lock behind you all the time, bit tiresome but totally required.
We never leave keys anywhere, each has one cut and carries it with them, this happened even when we were young.
No spare key in the garden or under a mat 😆

Yeah, the times have changed. Here in town we would never leave the door open. Once my wife let her phone on a bench in the little park between our apartment houses because she needed something from the apartment, and when she came back a minute later, the phone was gone. Luckily a nice man has seen the thief, followed him and forced him to give the phone back. We were lucky, but we never leave anything of value outside anymore, even not in our neighborhood.

Gold fillings in your teeth here they will take them, no nothing is safe that isn't locked down with bolt and chain, few angry Rottweilers for additional protection, oh the furries sleep in the house for protection too....
