Rivers Run To The Sea

Durban Decay

Crime and corruption has turned a world first-class city into a crumbling nightmare, no matter how often we show you the magnificent natural environment, one can never turn a blind eye to the filth we endure. Glimpse at the river bank closely, see what washes down, unless people go in to clean, down to the sea it goes.

IMG_6510.JPG

Over 5 year period we endured floods, looting during riots, pandemic lockdowns killing many livelihoods, why so many turn against nature when that is what we rely on, we all animals in a world that needs logistical thinking to progress. Most plan to live life in cleanliness, buy a home, plan to save/pay back, why not a little extra give back to the environment by planting a tree or fruit for all to enjoy.

Currently with strike action in Durban joining fray again, loadshedding, water outages, high crime, it's a city where most on are their knees. Alleviating poverty starts right in your village, no need to ask, we can see desperation written all over faces? These are simple thoughts mulling around ones head.

Those who enriched themselves taking from the poor, there is no place left in the world for this type of behaviour, driving fancy new EV's when slave type labour is employed to enhance some, while people are drowning in poverty. Sleep well at night with security, comfy in your bed, how do you?

Even my monkeys have sufficient to thrive on now walking my garden over the last couple of days, they have the little black berries in the tree.

Some palm tree berries now ripe with a variety of palm trees in the region they go from house to house enjoying variety.

Needless to say thoroughly enjoying Guavadilla's along with the gang, regular visitors to forage for food.

Plant for today and tomorrow, plan around food it appears to becoming a source we will all be required to learn even living in high rise buildings, there is a roof on each one!

True ma💫

Strike action the town is once again filthy, always surprises me how quickly humans can spread their waste.

It's truly sad why other people do these acts of cruelty to nature. I guess they are the ungrateful kinds, the I don't care kinds, the heartless and the brainless. I just hope what their doing only comes back to them and not to the preservers of nature.
But sometimes a lot of the kind people are the victims of these cruel act.

Poverty reaches too many in our country, living dirty is not necessary, very bad knock-on effect!

I just hope they will all wake up soon and see the effects of their doings.

I still don't understand some people, our planet deteriorates day by day due to our actions, and there are few people who say something good for our planet and those of us who live on it.
Being responsible for our waste, recycling garbage, avoiding buying products with packaging that harms the environment, growing our own food and planting trees, are things that we can all do to a certain extent, and it will be very beneficial for everyone.

I am very sorry for the pollution in the river, that will undoubtedly cause flooding and overflowing.

Thank you very much dear friend @joanstewart for sharing the reality that you live every day

At one time the canoe club looked after this river arranging cleaning up operations. When they left to use a river further down the cycling club took up the challenge, not as frequently still arrange cleaning with other locals joining in.

Between the river banks and beaches both ongoing problems, residents further inland throwing everything into the river ridding themselves of their mess sending it floating down to the sea.

Water scarce country people sharing drinking water with animals, to drink, swim and bathe, now many run with Ecoli another problem to endure. Nothing is repaired or maintained by corrupt governments, the poor are suffering not knowing where to turn.

Indeed. It's hard for me to grasp how some people still treat mother Earth like this.

Problem is worse after floods or high rivers, now ongoing, always have filth floating by or lodged along with waterways.

It's said that things need to get worse before they get better, but it doesn't sound true in this case. For the life of me, I don't understand those that litter. where do they think all of that debris ends up?
The entire world seems to be falling apart, some regions faster than others. When it comes time to pay the Piper, many will wonder how we got here, never realizing they were part of the problem.

Burning, breaking, looting nothing makes sense in too many parts of the world, man creating self-destruction listening to a handful telling them so.

SA voting arrives end of May, ANC are a well established machine at logistics. Bus people into voting stations, hand out a T-shirt, box of KFC, yes on the strength of 30 years false promises they will vote for them again! It is going to be a tough one, hopefully the wool has been lifted from the eyes of the youth, that is if they cast a vote....

Dirt in rivers, cities is appalling to witness, when the world becomes a large dumping ground, everyone will end up living in it, or eating it!

Free T-shirt and a box of KFC, I guess that when folks are desperate it doesn't take much to get them on your side.
Politics is a dirty business. With our presidential election coming in November some of the shit flying around in commercials on the TV and the radio is hard to fathom. One side says one thing and the other side says the complete opposite. Determining what is the truth is almost impossible. Our nation is becoming more divided with each passing day. Politicians never cross the aisle, but instead follow party lines to the tee, afraid to lose their job if they don't.

I'm an optimist at heart, but I just don't see things changing any time soon.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Tricks of the trade here are plentiful, all politicians talk with forked tongue!

We watch a variety of sites to obtain information around the world on international political matters, they all affect each other connected through West with UN, WEF, WHO and all the rest of the mob.

We hope for the best, expect worse of late nothing good happening on our side of the pond either.

!LUV to Robin and yourself, take care and enjoy family, it's the best we can do of late.

Oh Joan, it's a crying shame!
I was so excited about the Tidy Town groups that's doing such good work, and then this happens! Apparently the stench in town in unbelievable, and they still have not come to an agreement!
These are people who are earning good salaries with good benefits, sickening!
We've fortunately had 2 young guys here who mostly bought takeaway so there's not too much rubbish. I'm definitely buying bins and will mark them in bold for glass, and paper & plastic. It helps with reducing the garbage.
Imagine all the garbage that will now end in the stormwater drains when it rains, the fish dying in rivers and the ocean as well, because of disgusting irresponsible people!
I can go on and on.
You're so right, those at the top are living lavish lives while the poor suffer!
Durban was recently called Dirtbin, so sad, our once beautiful thriving city!

It is depressing to watch everything going down, on the coast here, private garden services are assisting with clearing roadside excess growth, volunteers called START help folk to medical and other assistance, private folk are assisting Tidy Towns.

Much has been set up where we donate to assist with petrol, vehicle repairs or refreshments handed out when in the area, never enough, visitors/inland folk throwing filth out their car windows, pride urgently needed!

Many places along the coast (we above the freeway) have not had water or electricity for weeks! My sister on West Rand now finding they too being heavily knocked with water and electricity, it is countrywide problem.
