Jinx, Grizabella, and Alonso looked very regal in these portraits and were very aloof when we arrived at their coastal castle! It was my first attempt at running away from coughing. Alas, to no avail, but the sea air did help somewhat!
An absence of two weeks is unheard of in my eight-year-old life on Hive. Even my computer stood untouched. I've been fighting nasty bugs that attacked my lungs, but am on the mend, although it's taking way longer than expected, but I feel better!
Last weekend, my brother and his wife swept me away up the coast to their son for an overnight stay. He's a doctor, so I felt in good hands;)
Alonso and Grizi came to say hello, but Jinx kept his distance. Believe it or not, snow-white Alonso is the son of tortoiseshell-coloured Grizi!
Fragrant candles and a warm welcome from my nephew and his partner immediately took me away from those awful but very necessary nebulizers. Gorgeous pink roses, and an elf on a golden reindeer reminded me that Christmas and family times are just around the corner.
Breathing in the fresh air from the conservancy adjacent to their home, and the sound of a multitude of wild birds was food for the soul! We sat there long after the sun had set. It was a typical warm sub-tropical night, despite the soft rain falling. The beach is a stone's throw away and was on our agenda for the day to follow. The weather forecast did not sound promising, though!
These three obviously think they rule the castle, but they were on good behavior!
A paint-by-numbers done for my Mom many years ago, with my two nephews sitting with their Ouma in the middle. My younger nephew lives way across the waters in icy Minnesota.
The sun showed up the next day, and we headed for a little restaurant that looks out over the ocean for a light breakfast. It was gorgeous taking a slow walk, breathing in the fresh sea air, and shopping at the informal stalls of the beach vendors.
I did not want to leave the sight of the ocean, the sandy beach, and the typical beach vegetation, as well as the sound of the waves breaking on the shore.
Time to head back inland to higher grounds, which has become my new turf, a place and its people that I'm beginning to fall in love with.

Dear @lizelle I do hope you are healed and better soon. Those portraits are so cute. My wife used to love doing paint by the numbers, but her hands hurt too bad now to hold a brish for long. I am glad you were able to get away and enjoy the sea side and the ocean breeze. It looks so nice and peaceful to me. The fresh air must have done some good. Take care and healing thoughts your way.
