BOW: What's With Your Name?

According to Shakespeare, a rose by any other name would smell would smell as sweet. This saying suggests that the name given to a thing or person is not that important, what is more important is the intrinsic qualities of the thing or person.

However, I beg to differ, I think that names are extremely important. That is why parents spend a lot of time and effort in choosing suitable names for their off-springs. This is especially true for the Chinese community, where parents gave their children auspicious names. It is believed that these names will give their children a better future.

In general, our names play a vital role in establishing our personal identities. They are intertwined with deeply personal, cultural, familial, and historical ties. They also provide us a sense of who we are, our place in the world, and the communities to which we belong.

My hive handle is positivesteem. When I first started blogging at the Steemit platform, I wanted a name that will reflect my positive and optimistic outlook on life. My mission then and now is to spread positivity one post at a time. I know that I will write uplifting posts that will inspire and motivate others. I hope that to a certain extend my positivity will rub off on others. Therefore I combine the words "Positive" and "Steem"and came up with the name positivesteem. I also like the fact this name also sounds similar to positive self-esteem. Therefore when I migrate to the Hive platform, I still use positivesteem rather than positivehive.

I am quite new to the silver bloggers community and I only recently found out that members here also have own unique names for the community. That is a great idea that members of the community have affectionate nicknames for each other. So @lizelle or Sliver-Blond Lizzie as she is known in the community, I liked to be called Positively Sliver in this community. This is because I will still write uplifting posts based on my experience and outlook towards life.

In addition, I also liked to be positively identified with the sliver community as I am proud to be a senior. We seniors in our age group with our life experiences have learned to come to terms with ourselves. We are more accepting of ourselves, know ourselves better and what we want out of life. Through our ups and downs, we have learned not to take life too seriously. At times we can even inject a bit of humor in the gravest situation albeit with a hint of sarcasm. I can ascertain from reading the posts of this community that members still have their swagger. I hope to be called endearingly Positively Silver.

"Positively Sliver" is a great name for a Silver Blogger! Charles, I like your name!

Thank you. I think the name conveys a lot of positivity.

I love this! Personally, I think that names are important and I love that the Chinese - like the Africans - take such care in choosing names. My name was chosen less for its meaning than because it was considered not common. That's another story which I'll share.

In the meantime, I positively love your Positively Silver name! Your status in the community has been updated.

Thank you for entering this #bow edition and an even bigger thank you for your delegation to the Silver Bloggers' community.

Thank you so much.

Positively Silver, I like the name and the wonderful reason for the reason behind your choice.
The world sure could use a lot more people that look at things as if the glass is half full. Most situations that bring with them a sense of despair also come with a Silver lining, but in order to see things this way you need to have a positive attitude to begin with.

For many seniors, a grumpy side sometimes becomes part of that person's personality as their candle burns down.
Just the opposite should occur as you age, knowing that every moment spent complaining, belittling, or enjoying other's demise only makes your candle flicker instead of glow.
It will be my pleasure to add such a positive individual to the wonderful people I consider my friends.

Have a wonderful day!
