Great crested Grebe at the Inn River

Today Stefand and I visited the Inn River Again for some bird photography and we got to see a lot of different birds again. But unfortunately a lot of them where too far away for some resonable pictures today. So the pictures count was not so good after todays trip, and a lot less than I used to have on former trips to the same region. But you cannot always be very successful sometimes you need also some drawbacks so you can be happy the next time you come back home with more beautiful pictures than today.

One of the few birds that I could photograph from a reasonable distance was the great crested grebe that was diving in front of us for food in the shallow water.

I have to admit that I like the great crested grebe because I think it is a really beautiful bird and I also like it's mating behaviour when the male and the female shake their heads. It is always funny to watch. The next positive thing about this bird is that it isn't very shy and if you wate at the shore you could easily get some close up pictures of them when they swim by. They are pretty common birds here and on bigger open water surfaces you can find them regulary.
