Hello birders of #SMaP, how lovely that in this Round 240 we have a free theme... I wonder if we’re also free to share our blurry 🤣 photos... because what I’ve got today it’s memorable... you’ll see why.
Let’s start with this one, not too shabby, right? It’s a jabao Woodpecker… I’ve photographed it before in my backyard. This time I spotted it in Monte Barreto, an ecological park where I was left speechless today, because in a single tree, there were sixteen different bird species
🤓
A tree like this one.
@leasorfro and @pedrorrm-76 did manage to photograph all those birds, but truth be told, I couldn’t see much myself. The trees are thick with foliage, and the light kept shifting—sometimes the sun was right in my face… so many little details that make getting a good shot quite the challenge. And I don’t have binoculars. So really, what I could more or less see was through the 45–200 mm lens on my camera. Luckily, they were there and more or less pointed things out, and I managed to see… the little I saw.
This fellow flew in close—and me, who hadn’t managed a single decent shot after being there with them for over half an hour… well, I dashed over to see if I could do something with this one.
And his pose, by the way, reminded me of the neck pain I was already feeling from staring up into the treetops, where the birds were having quite the party. And me… well, I just hoped my cervical spine wouldn’t knock me out of action today.
“You’re made for frontenis,” he said, pointing over there.
😂
“Alright”, I nodded, and looked at the photo that had gone awry… the camera sometimes throws a tantrum in those critical moments—in the good sense—when I might’ve captured a brilliant shot.
nice shot
Just look at the things it does to me. 😤
The first blurry lifer of the day!
This is a red-legged honeycreeper (Cyanerpes cyaneus), though here my colleagues call it “Aparecido de San Diego”. There were plenty of them around, but I only managed to photograph this one, and not very well, to be honest.
Blurry lifer, sore neck, rebellious camera—and still, I’m thrilled. You know? 😃 They tell me they’re blue in their adult stage, but females or immature males can look like this…
Second lifer of the day—also blurry
😂
Let’s move on to the
third blurry lifer
... that (bobito) one’s a bit embarrassing. In short: I had a lovely, wholesome time—birdwatching is incredibly relaxing. I didn’t see all the species, as I really need a pair of binoculars. But I suppose one day I’ll have them. I love watching birds… and I suppose one day I’ll get myself a proper camera too—and me? I won’t stop till I reach NatGeo. Haha… hugs to all. Dreaming is free.

Gracias teacher.
Gracias, @jesni. Un saludo y feliz inicio de semana.
@ewkaw and Qurator, thank you very much!
☺️📷☕🤗
You have no idea how many blurry images I have and how many where the bird supposed to be. LOL.

But the birding is rewarding and just watching them birds gives such satisfaction.
Wonderful post! I cannot imagine so many birds in one tree, this must be a sight!
Hahaha... I can imagine. Especially the ones where the bird is supposed to be, hahaha... That made me laugh.
It's always a pleasure to participate. And I loved sharing this story that happens to all of us, but very few people talk about.
😉🥴😂
Good morning, dear friend @nanixxx
What a beautiful species of woodpecker! The combinations of their feathers are amazing.
I think everyone who photographs birds knows that blurry photos are part of the photo shoot.
Thank you so much, dear friend, for sharing this photographic experience.
Have a beautiful Sunday.
Good morning, @jlufer. Yes, everyone who is into birding knows that, but telling these stories adds colour, doesn't it?
I said 16 species, and last night, after I finished writing and publishing the post, my colleagues said they had compiled a list of 26.
Thank you, wishing you a wonderful day as well. 😊📷
Sixteen species of birds? OMG! 😲 I would be crazy watching them, I think the world would cease to exist, just the birds and me, I love it! 😍 Although with my poor eyesight, I probably wouldn't see a thing haha and with my neck destroyed... 😂
Even with the blurry photos, you did a great job ❤️ birds are very restless hahaha
You'll definitely make it to NatGeo and Buhito will be glued to the TV admiring your work 🦉❤️
Hahaha... I feel the same way. The world ceases to exist when I'm there watching the birds.
Aww, those eyes always have a loving gaze for Aunt Nani, that's why you like everything even if it's blurry, hahaha... Thank you.
NatGeo, wait for me, I'm on my way! 📷😂
Well... it's just that birds move very quickly... no... the birds were still, but these things happen. Maybe the camera wanted to fly away, who knows? But they are wonderful photographs and you are always improving, which is great. This is my favourite!
The camera is going to fly one day from the kick I'm going to give it, yes, 🤣. But I immediately remember that I can't do that, that I can kick other things without hurting myself or her, poor thing... Thank goodness I haven't lost my clarity!
Hugs. At least the photo you chose is visible. I would have been surprised if you told me that the Bobito one was your favourite.
😂... @nanixxx friend, I thought this only happened to me, oh my!... More than two decades of taking photos have made me understand that the most difficult things to photograph are "birds"... Yeah, it is true!... I have taken street photos, landscape photos, reptiles, mammals, thousands of insect macros, portraits even of donkeys, snakes and monkeys, and with all of them I have done relatively well and I have had fun!... Ah, but the birds, my very dear friend, have made me shout insults at the top of my voice 🤣, furiously show them the middle finger of my right hand 🤣... I have kicked the ground and almost cried! 😀... It seems that birds sometimes enjoy appearing where they cannot be photographed or simply moving all the time!... And when they appear perched on a branch perfectly visible, then I do not have my camera with me or I only have it with a 35mm lens attached!...🤣 ... But I love birds, and When I finally get to take a good photo of them, I feel like the "luckiest guy in the world" 😍🙏... Thanks for this post! Have a great week and you're already at NatGeo level. The problem is the birds. Believe me, they know how to annoy a good photographer! 😂

😂 Ahhh, what a relief, my friend. Looks like we’re on the same team. You’ve no idea how reassuring it is to read this comment. I did find it genuinely interesting to share these things. Photographers always show the best bits, don’t they? Being honest means showing what we go through as well. 🤣
I daresay birdwatching found its way into my life to teach me the patience I’ve yet to master. A quiet apprenticeship, perhaps, for the journey that lies ahead.
Thank you! 🙏

Your photos are very good, even the “blurry” ones, as they create an attractive visual effect. When I was reading your post, I remembered one of Eugenio Montejo's beautiful poems about birds, which I'll share with you here in a link. Hugs, my dear @nanixxx.
Buenos días, querido @josemalavem. Me encantó leer a Eugenio Montejo.
Gracias 🫂.
Y también por sus elogios al desenfoque. 😅
