Hello Bird Lovers!
Today I have my contribution to the Show Me A Photo Contest - Round 36. The theme this week is "BIRD EYE."
I present to you
PEACOCK / PEAHEN
The term "peacock" is commonly used to refer to birds of both sexes. Technically, only males are peacocks. Females are peahens, and together, they are called peafowl.
Distinctive Tail Feathers
These tail feathers, or coverts, spread out in a distinctive train that is more than 60 percent of the bird’s total body length and boast colorful "eye" markings of blue, gold, red, and other hues. The large train is used in mating rituals and courtship displays. It can be arched into a magnificent fan that reaches across the bird's back and touches the ground on either side. Females are believed to choose their mates according to the size, color, and quality of these outrageous feather trains.

Peahen aren't the only creatures that choose a mate by the state of the potential mate's rear end; I'm told that some human males do that, too!
They really are beautiful birds. It's fun to watch them strut about.
🤣 I know some like that.
Wow....u get so close to them....looks magical..
Well, a great post for the first participation ;) It seemed to me that males also use their tails to intimidate predators, I'm not sure that this is so...It's too beautiful to be scared :D
This is absolutely delightful post and your choice of bird is splendid. 😀
hello there
to be honest I had no information about peacocks and I got so much of the information from your post well I saw a real peacock in my life long ago when my uncle had three of them but I don't know if they are male or female it was back in the day in my village but they look so beautiful I'm in the beautiful animals I have ever saw in my life and sometime the use to do their thing which they are really famous for spread their wings
everything looked beautiful the peacock and your daughter as well nice post
Wow this looks really amazing and I really don't believe how smoothly you did that and how close shot you clicked, Looks really great.
Also your phone camera is really good.
Beautiful friend! I love peacocks!🦚
Beautiful photos @ninahaskin. I didn't know that about peacocks and peahens, or peafowl, so I just learned something new, thank you! It makes complete sense. The males are always the highly decorative, dressed for competition.
These eyes makes me hypnotize lol heheh
Absolutely gorgeous birds. I can relate to the tailfeather selection 😎
Peafowl are beautiful. Lovely photos and great shot of eye close-up.💞
