Finally the squabs are here
We never watched baby pigeons this close - finally they are here with us, just next to our window in the kitchen. Sometimes back, I had posted how a couple put up a nest at the same place and tried to hatch their eggs, but last time, they broke those eggs themselves leaving us in utter frustration. But this time, they have hatched two squabs - a live fun for the kids. I was very upset about last time, so I was not letting them put up a nest here, but they took the advantage of our vacation - by the time we came back, we saw them with eggs. The kids requested not to disturb them. You can see the egg being hatched few days back and I was not knowing that the kids were counting the days :)
They were pretty excited to see these baby pigeons yesterday after waiting for long time. We could probably have taken better video by removing that window, but the mother is very protective about the kids - like every mother on this earth. She tries to hit that glass, if any kind of sound happens there. She even does not want to leave them any time, even for food. We tried to give her some rice to eat, but she did not move. Another pigeon ate those rice. Interestingly she feeds these kids by giving them food in their peak - watch the video at 01:47 - the kids peak seems to be mature, may be the nature has put them that way so that they can eat. We are not sure, from where the mother brings that food, not sure, if she has some storage mechanism. This is going to be fun for next one month - as I understand from my google search, the kids will be ready to fly then. But does the mother store the food for this long ? May be she will go after few days and we will be able to clean that glass to take some better videos, but until she gets out of the place, its really scary to try to do any movement at that place. Watch out for more videos and fun in coming days. Someone was telling, pegions bring wealth - may be time for HIVE to go to 10$ :)

Haha. This is so cool. They grow up like adults in 2-3 days. A few days ago a baby piegon came into my house. Obviously, he couldn't fly so we gave him water and rice to eat. My little son was very excited to see him. I had to save that poor little bird from my cat too. It was all fun and games until he decided to shit all over my workdesk. 😂 It was crazy!
Kids are always mad about animals - we have to do all the clean up.
Wow! See the way the mother is looking very vigilant like if she sees any wanderer she'd gun them down with her beaks @sanjeevm ...and I see the little almost-featherless fellas 😊 so cute. I remember last month I piblished a post on that kind of little birds hatched in a hollow of a tree on my compound.
I think the reason why mother birds use the beak to feed their little one is to break it down into tiny bits which the littke ones beak could pick.
It's truly amazing to watch them so close.
Now that´s interesting. Here in Krakow, there must be literally millions of pigeons, they are really everywhere, but as far as I remember, I have never seen baby pigeons. Not even elsewhere in the world so this must be quite a rare and special experience that you guys have right behind your kitchen window :) I can imagine that your daughter is just as protective of the little birdies as their own mother haha :D So cute.
Ya, watching the birds so close is definitely a rare opportunity. And you are right, she is in charge :)
I learnt mother birds feed their young ones by belching/ burping their partially digested food. It's the best way the young ones can feed on them since their digestive systems aren't developed enough to break down solid grains.
I've also learnt before that pigeons bring forth wealth, and so yes maybe it's about time every Hiver buys a pigeon. We might be surprised. 😃 😄

Yeah, its amazing how mother nature has her wonderful and sometimes bizarre way of solving problems. Every animal has its own way of caring for their young even without learning. It's really beautiful to watch sometimes.
These baby pigeons are looking very cute. My father also have pigeons at my home my father thought that if he will feed them they will pray for us form God.

The pigeon nest by the window and the arrival of new guests there is something really remarkable. This scene is really very captivating. I also like pigeons very much.
Watching the cycles of new life is such a blessing, no? And how wonderful for the children to observe and learn too. I love birds being around the house and garden.
That's a really interesting feeding pattern. I have observed bird lifestyle because I have a lot of trees in my home and birds aren't really open to people observing them unless you have some sort of planted camera or so. I think you even did a good job recording them.
How sweet, baby pigeons , i always wish to keep pigeons at home but due to busy schedule and some other issues im unable to do so. Btw thanks for sharing with us.

This is amazing. I believe most Bird 🕊️🐦 are always very protective for their young ones. And you are fortunate to have watch one hatched close to your window, because most time they want to stay where no one will disturb them. I think your vacation allowed the pigeon to be calm this time around and not to destroy her eggs again.
It is important to take care of little pigeons, give them yellow corn, beans and eggs they are best foods
But how ? The mother seems to be not moving at all !
Usually after less than a month, young pigeons will be able to eat grains on their own, and also it leaves them to rely on themself, or try to give the big pigeon food mentioned, it will definitely feed youngs until your time comes ☺️
How nice to see pigeon protecting its young and afraid for them, tenderness is found even in animals

Motherly instincts will kick in and a mother will always be protective of her kids.
This is amazing. You have pigeon and the egg hatching. I think after a few weeks they can almost fly, then can looking for foods themselves. That's when they will all leave the nest. It's lucky !
