Second little crow in this year

Hi, my dear friends!

As you probably already understood, crow season has begun for me. It has already become a tradition that in May the chicks of crows literally squat on my head. Sometimes it seems to me that soon they will begin to fall in the form of precipitation, like rain or snow! Well, there's nothing you can do. The hooded crow is largely an urban bird, and the city is not well adapted to the needs of chicks. Nothing, let's do it!

Now you can mainly see two categories of baby birds: chicks and fledglings. That young crow I wrote about yesterday is a fledgling. The fledgling looks like an adult bird in many ways. It has already fledged, is active and sometimes already knows how to eat on its own. The only thing it still can't do is fly, so its parents continue to take care of it.

The crow, which was brought to me late yesterday evening, turned out to be a chick. It is still quite tiny, covered with fluff, and the feathers have not yet fully grown. The main occupation of the chick is to eat and sleep.

People often pick up chicks and fledglings. This is not always correct. A healthy chick should be tried to return to the nest. I emphasize - healthy, otherwise very soon it will again be on the ground. If it is impossible to return the chick to the nest or it is sick, take it and take it to the veterinarian. With fledglings, the rule is almost the same. If the fledgling is healthy and the place is safe, we observe whether the parents take care of it. If not, then we'll just pick it up. It is not necessary to return the fledgling to the nest.

With love from Ukraine 💛💙
