A little fix on the right anklet, worn off glove, and socialisation progress (2024.05.22)

in Feathered Friends25 days ago

The anklet fell off twice from the right leg of my Harris's hawk. My friend, who made the anklet noticed that he put the hole into the anklet a little bit more far away that it should be, so he made another hole, and I rolled the jesses into the new hole, and I put a glue on the end of the anklet, so theoretically now it is safe.

The left anklet is certainly safe. My Harris's hawk jumped from my multiple times, and it did not fell off at all.

My glove fell apart (worn off). Currently I do not have a wearable glove. Sometimes my bird stand on my hand. Soon I will have a glove again.

Today afternoon and evening I spent a few hours with my bird amongst a few people. She is still mostly vary and aggressive towards others, but the progress is already visible. Sometimes she looks at people curiously.

Of course I will spend more and more time amongst people with her. And amongst more and more people. She will get used to the people over time.

Have a nice day. All the best. Greetings and much love from Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain.

What a noble looking and amazing bird.

The Harris's hawks are actually exceptional. They are the only species amongst predatory birds, which lives and hunts in groups. So they are social birds.

I think I just unlocked a new fear. 😆

That is very interesting that they hunt in groups because it requires high intelligence to coordinate the hunt with others. I saw a couple of bald eagles on a tree the other day. They seemed to be having a moment, but I don't think eagles hunt together.
