Hace poco más de una semana instalé una versión de Linux en mi computadora para aprender a usar un software específico, para ello probé varias distribuciones y en realidad me costó elegir, pero al final opté por Ubuntu ya que la última vez que lo usé me pareció un sistema operativo estético y agradable, me considero un usuario casual de computadoras, sin muchos conocimientos más allá de lo normal.
A little over a week ago I installed a version of Linux on my computer to learn how to use specific software. To do this I tried several distributions and it was actually difficult for me to choose, but in the end I opted for Ubuntu since the last time I I used it and found it to be an aesthetic and pleasant operating system. I consider myself a casual computer user, without much knowledge beyond the normal.
Al empezar a usar Ubuntu, noté que la personalización es completamente diferente a la de Windows, en este aspecto, Windows es mucho más fácil, en cambio, en Ubuntu hay que instalar parches y escribir códigos constantemente para realizar tareas que, como usuario de Windows de toda la vida, considero realmente sencillas, no puedo evitar compararlo directamente con Windows, ya que es el único sistema operativo que he usado durante años.
When I started using Ubuntu, I noticed that the customization is completely different from that of Windows, in this aspect, Windows is much easier, on the other hand, in Ubuntu you have to constantly install patches and write codes to perform tasks that, as a Windows user of a lifetime, I consider them really simple, I can't help but compare it directly with Windows, since it is the only operating system that I have used for years.
Mi instinto natural fue intentar sentirme cómodo con el entorno de Ubuntu, para ello, lo primero que hice fue configurar el aspecto estético, cambiar la imagen de fondo fue fácil y me llenó de confianza, sin embargo, la cosa se complicó cuando quise bajar la barra de tareas (por defecto, Ubuntu la trae en la parte superior). Pensé que arrastrándola con el cursor la bajaría pero no fue así, tuve que acudir a foros para investigar y tras varios parches, códigos y aprender un poco sobre Gnome, logré bajarla.
My natural instinct was to try to feel comfortable with the Ubuntu environment, to do this, the first thing I did was configure the aesthetic aspect, changing the background image was easy and filled me with confidence, however, things got complicated when I wanted to download the taskbar (by default, Ubuntu has it at the top). I thought that dragging it with the cursor would lower it but it didn't, I had to go to forums to investigate and after several patches, codes and learning a little about Gnome, I managed to download it.
Luego de eso fue más fácil ajustar el tamaño de los iconos, su separación y la transparencia, también despejé de iconos el escritorio para que el fondo de pantalla se viera mejor y, por último, instalé Java, una herramienta necesaria para poder ejecutar varios programas que suelo utilizar. En general ya estaba listo para empezar a aprender Python en mi entorno cómodo y personalizado.
After that it was easier to adjust the size of the icons, their separation and transparency, I also cleared the desktop of icons so that the wallpaper looked better and, finally, I installed Java, a necessary tool to be able to run several programs which I usually use. Overall I was ready to start learning Python in my comfortable and personalized environment.
Es importante destacar que la gran cantidad de códigos que hay que escribir en la consola es abrumadora, al principio es incómodo y molesto, pero luego te acostumbras y lo haces de forma natural. En cuanto al sistema en general es genial para computadoras antiguas justo lo estoy corriendo en una vieja laptop Celeron con 4 gigas de RAM y funciona excelente con muy pocos lags.
It is important to note that the large amount of code that has to be written in the console is overwhelming, at first it is uncomfortable and annoying, but then you get used to it and do it naturally. En general esta experiencia está siendo bastante positiva y me está ayudando a ejercitar un poco el cerebro, cada problema en Linux tiene una solución, y cuando encuentras el código para corregirlo, sientes una sensación reconfortante, en lo personal, creo que Ubuntu es un gran sistema para empezar en Linux, por ahora veremos qué me depara el futuro en los próximos días a medida que avance en mi aprendizaje.

Hola, que gusto saber que estás dándole caña con Linux, al inicio es muy abrumador, pero te acostumbras con el tiempo. Ubuntu es una buena distro para iniciar, así como lo es Linux Mint.
Te recomiendo que busques otros entornos de escritorios, porque en mi opinión Gnome, es muy estético y todo, pero al menos a mí se me hace muy pesado en el consumo de RAM. Existen otros como MATE, KDE, XFCE que son "similares" a Windows, y consumen mucho menos recursos. En particular yo uso KDE.

Me ha gustado mucho ubuntu, anteriormente llegué a usar Linux mint pero siempre termino volviendo a ubuntu 😅 gracias por la recomendación la tomaré en cuenta, ciertamente siento un poco pesado el gnome aunque le achacaba eso a mis 4 gigas de ram jaja 🤣
¿Sabes? Podrías probar Linux Mint con debian, LMD6, ese trae escritorio Cinnamon y la verdad va de maravilla. Éxito y espero encuentres la mejor distro a tus necesidades 🤟
