Our finger prints don't fade from the lives we touch

Judy Blume

Good day everyone, may your week be filled with joy and gladness.

Welcome to my blog! I will be sharing with you a special occasion that touches many lives.

Every year a group of Filipino Americans will be visiting Our country. A lot of them are my old friends. Filipino because they were actually Pinoy and Americans because they were living in America since they were young and are American citizens already.

They went to different cities in the Philippines to have medical missions and this year they choose Barangay Sangat San Fernando where most of them were born from that place. They contacted us before they arrived to help and find volunteers for the medical mission.

We have one visitor who stays in our place to see how we were doing. The day before the event all the volunteers were asked to have an orientation and an early check up. Each volunteer came and were given medicines according to their medication.

The day arrived when the medical missions happened. Me and some other volunteers were assigned in the registration area, some of my churchmates were in counselling and some assisted the doctors and the pharmacy.

Early in the morning many people came to have medical check ups. A day before the event they give away tickets and those tickets are the ones who can attend the check ups. So many came without tickets and got angry why only chosen people are allowed. The host group explain that only few medicines are available so they give away tickets to the needy. Some understand but others murmured.

The first step when you enter the venue was you were given a priority number whether you get medical or dental ,then a little interview about yourself. Step two was you will sit together with the counselors, shared the gospel, then to the vital signs, doctors check up and lastly to the pharmacy. If you need a reading glass there are also available. When you were done you will pass on to the exit gate and given an instruction to get 5kls of rice for free.

Every beneficiaries were very happy not only they got free medicine but also 5 kilos of rice. A lot of people coming in as the day were about to end. We started at eight in the morning and ended at two in the afternoon. There were more than 700 patients together with the kids for medical checkup and seventy people were served in dental area.

We had free snacks and lunch all of us with free drinks unlimited. We are very grateful that we were very lucky to be one of the volunteers. After everyone were served we were given some extra medicines and vitamins. They also gave us beauty products and of course we got ten kilos of rice.

Friends

We had our picture taking together with the group wearing our T shirts. Not all of us were given the shirts, but I got one. A little conversation to my friends and we said our goodbyes. We went home bringing smiles on our faces as we become part of the mission.

We also witness the happy faces of some patients as they were about to go home also. All of us never felt the tiresome day as we touch someones heart in a simple way.
