¡Hola!
Mi viejo, como le llamo, es Jesús María mi papá, nativo de la población de Caripe, municipio Caripe del Estado Monagas, específicamente de la población Las Acacias.
Caripe es un bellísimo lugar, se le conoce como el jardín del oriente del país por sus paisajes, variedad de flores y su espectacular clima frío. Parecido al clima del Estado Mérida en nuestro país Venezuela. Caripe es zona productora de café, naranja, fresas, legumbres y hortalizas, sumamente frescos sus productos.
Anteriormente, tenían una empresa envasadora reconocida a nivel nacional por sus productos estrella como eran los jugos y concentrados de naranja marca EL TURPIAL, de excelente calidad, todavía recuerdo su sabor.
También cuentan con la Cueva del Guácharo, sitio turístico y emblemático en nuestro país por sus características topográficas y ambientales. Hacer el recorrido interno en la Cueva del Guácharo con los guías turísticos es una experiencia bella y enriquecedora, nunca imaginé lo maravillosa y generosa que ha sido la naturaleza con nosotros, pero basta con ir a Caripe para reconocerlo.
Realice el recorrido de la Cueva con mi familia y de allí salí llena de barro pero feliz con la experiencia. Gozan de un gentilicio espectacular, con mujeres muy bellas, generalmente de pelo lacio y mejillas sonrojadas.
Mi viejo era el mayor de seis hermanos, huérfanos de padre y madre, tuvo que salir a trabajar para ayudar a sus hermanos y cubrirles sus necesidades siendo todavía un adolescente.
Para el gobierno del general Eleazar López Contreras (aproximadamente para los años de 1938/1939) alcanza la mayoría de edad, sin embargo, por ser quien mantenía el sustento de su familia lo cedularon con menor edad para que no fuera a cumplir con el servicio militar.En realidad no sabemos cuantos años tenía, por cédula eran 100 años, pero siempre decía que tenía más edad.
En esa búsqueda de trabajo llegó a la población rural de Viboral, parroquia boquerón del municipio Maturín del Estado Monagas, a trabajar la agricultura, labor que realizaba muy bien y que le permitió mantener una contextura física envidiable para muchos. Lamentablemente no poseo fotos de esa época. Allí conoció a mi madre, la joven Lucila María, se casaron e hicieron familia que somos nosotros sus hijos.
Pasaron mucho trabajo para criar, formar y educar a siete hijos, sin embargo, siempre dijeron con mucho orgullo que había valido la pena.
El pasado 18 de marzo de este año cumplió 100 años, para celebrarle, le realicé una torta volteada con rodajas y sabor a piña o ananás, la cual, quedó muy rica.
Estuvimos presente sus hijos, yernos y nietos con esposa para cantarle cumpleaños, llevándonos la sorpresa que Larry, el gato de mi sobrino, le comió parte de la torta, ¡Dios!, no sabía qué hacer.
Al final, le corté los pedazos por dónde Larry comió y reímos cantándole cumpleaños a mi viejo. Gozó y saboreo durante la semana siguiente su torta de piña, quedándonos a nosotros, su familia, la satisfacción de poder compartir sus últimos momentos y hacerlo feliz.

My old man was the oldest of six siblings, orphans of father and mother, he had to go out to work to help his siblings and provide for their needs while he was still a teenager.
During the government of General Eleazar Lopez Contreras (approximately 1938/1939) he reached the age of majority, however, because he was the breadwinner of his family, he was given an ID card with a younger age so that he would not have to fulfill the military service, in reality we do not know how old he was, by ID card it was 100 years, but he always said he was older.
In his search for work, he arrived in the rural town of Viboral, Boqueron parish in the municipality of Maturin, Monagas State, to work in agriculture, a job he did very well and which allowed him to maintain a physical build that was enviable for many. Unfortunately, I do not have any photos of that time. There he met my mother, the young Lucila Maria, they married and made a family that we are his children.
They went through a lot of work to raise, train and educate seven children, yet they always said with great pride that it was worth it.
On March 18 of this year she turned 100 years old, to celebrate her birthday, I made her a cake with pineapple slices and pineapple flavor, which was very tasty.
His children, son-in-laws and grandchildren were present with his wife to sing his birthday, and we were surprised that Larry, my nephew's cat, ate part of the cake, God, I didn't know what to do.
At the end, I cut off the pieces where Larry ate and we laughed singing birthday to my old man. He enjoyed and savored his pineapple cake for the next week, leaving us, his family, with the satisfaction of sharing his last moments and making him happy.
