Today we see a serious warning to not let sinners entice you, don't walk with them, keep away from them.
So how do we do this in our everyday life?
You don't mingle with evil people. You should guard yourself every day to not have any part or be close friends with the wrong people.
Sometimes we think that we can be friends with people and will win them over for Christ. But most of the times that won't work well and they will try to get you into their circle of sin. They will maybe invite you to a party and before you know it or even little by little you will start partaking in the sinful things that they practice.
I'm not saying that we have to avoid unbelievers. We must draw them to God instead of them dragging us down. But how do we do this?
If it is for example a colleague at work you keep on being very friendly and caring towards them. You share your testimony and tell them what God does for you and the most important thing you pray for them. Your life must also be a witness of your faith in God. You must bear fruit that suits a child of God. You can also invite them to your church or Bible studies.
When they decline you stay friendly and you don't stop asking. When there is an opportunity again you ask again and again and again.
By praying for them God will start working in their lives. In any conviction it has nothing to do with you and has everything to do with God and the power of the Holy Spirit to convict. You are just an instrument in the hand of God.
When the unbelievers are in a fix or some trouble, going through difficult times, they will know that you are different and that you you deal differently with problems. Then they will approach you and then you have a golden opportunity to be the instrument to lead them to Christ. You must by your words and your actions create in them a desire to be more like you. I believe wholeheartedly that God has an appointment with each and every person on this earth.
How do you as a believer manage in a practical way to not go on the path of the sinner?
When you make good friends you choose people that also believe in Jesus Christ. To keep on burning for Christ you have to do the right things. The most obvious to read and study your Bible, pray and be part of the body of Christ the church. In the church you will find godly friends which can help you and support you in your walk with God. Likewise you can also be a help to other Christians. One coal does not keep a fire alight but a lot of of coals lying close together keep the fire burning.
