Key Verse: “…that my joy might be in you and that your joy may be complete” (John 15 :11)

Our Lord Jesus Christ spoke these words, and it is most necessary for us to remember when He pronounced them. It was a very odd time to talk about peace and joy, for in a moment He would be in dark Gethsemane, and soon afterwards He would meet His complainants and hear the taunts and ridicule of those who despised Him. Yeah, it was just before meeting Calvary's torment that He spoke of "My Joy ...," and it is very important that, as far as scriptural records are concerned, this is the only time He has spoken of His Joy. How special the joy of the Lord must have been if in the midst of such great trial and examination it was still with Him!And his purpose and concern for us (that is, for any believer) is that his joy, so distinct from those of world, ought to be our joy – "that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be perfect."
