Fort Napoléon -Les Saintes,Terre de Haut- Guadeloupe Summer#6

For this brand new photo, I'm staying in the small island of Guadeloupe "Les Saintes".
Fort Napoléon, located 114 meters above sea level, overlooks the bay of Saintes, at the top of the Morne Mire. It takes about 20 minutes on foot to get there from the pier.
I ended up shirtless and in shorts, it was so hot (even at 10pm).

Fort Napoleon is a fort located on the island of Terre-de-Haut, in the Saintes archipelago in Guadeloupe. Property of the Departmental Council of Guadeloupe, it has been classified as a historical monument since December 15, 19971.

It was built at the top of Morne Mire2, on the site of a first fort initially called "Fort Louis" and renamed Fort Napoleon in 1805 shortly before its destruction by the English.

Completely rebuilt in 1867, under the reign of Napoleon III3,4, the fort never served as a fortress in wartime, but as an internment camp until the beginning of the last century.

Today transformed into a small museum on the history of Les Saintes and its cultural environment. It is located in the middle of a botanical garden dedicated to succulents with which many iguanas mingle.
