Ogier won WRC Rally Mexico 2023

in Rallylast year

Hi, friends!

Eight-time World Rally champion Seb Ogier continues with the record breaking because he just scored his 7th WRC Rally Mexico win which is something that has never won by any other driver at this event.

Esapekka Lappi was fastest driver on Friday for Hyundai but during Saturday he retired because of the shunt and that was it. Seb Ogier took the lead in his Toyota Yaris Rally1 and kept it until the finish line of Sunday.

He just proved that he and his compatriot Seb Loeb are from some other planet, just much faster then anyone else. Even current WRC champion Kalle Rovanpera couldn't catch his team-mate from Toyota. That just proves a point that if Ogier is on a full season bases with Toyota, that he would still pretty much be a champion. It is unbelievable that he leads the championship ahead of Thierry Neuville and he missed an event in Sweden. That's just something I can't believe.

On the other hand, now 2nd placed on the championship table, Thierry Neuville, proved that Hyundai is still good enough for fighting at the top. They just need that Ogier doesn't enter some of the following events. But there is also Ott Tanak in the Ford Puma Rally1 as a competition so there will always be someone who could fight them back.

Elfyn Evans has another mixed fortune event for Toyota because he managed to finish on the podium in 3rd place but lost 2nd place to Neuville on the last special stage, also called a Power Stage.

Current WRC champion Kalle Rovanpera finished 4th while Dani Sordo did 5th for Hyundai. The rest of the top 10 was reserved for WRC2 drivers with Gus Greensmith winning the category in Škoda Fabia Rally2 car.
