A Heart-to-Heart with My Younger Self

I had a conversation with my friend today and she asked a striking question. "Elfreda if allowed to talk to your younger self, what would you tell her. For a moment I gave this question a lot of thought as it wasn't just a regular question, it was one that required you to think deeply. After answering the question I decided to make a post about it here and here you go guys.

There are so many things I want to do in life and if talking to my younger self is possible, I’ll be glad to go down memory lane to do it without hesitating.

If I could talk to my younger self, I would probably talk for days nonstop as I have so much I want to share with her. Our conversation would be a long therapy session, a session where I would unburden everything that has been eating me up and everything I am not bold enough to tell anyone.

The first thing I will tell my younger self is to be patient. Impatience takes one nowhere rather you lose in the process.
I will let her understand that there won't always be bad days and that life won't always be tough. I’ll also make her understand that the storms of life are seasonal, after it comes a new dawn. Getting impatient because of how her life is going may break and make her lose focus, but being patient and trusting the process will pay off eventually.

I will tell my younger self to trust her instincts and not the tons of advice flying around her. I will help her understand that she’s capable of making her own decisions and that those decisions are capable of turning out right, not always as bad as she feared they would be.

I will also tell my younger self to love herself. I will reiterate the importance of self-love and the need to love herself first before anyone else. I’ll also remind her to love and accept every part of her body and mind, as there’s no greater love than that.

I will also encourage her to always speak up for herself, say no to bullying and never to water down her effort.

I have so much to say to my younger self but this tops the list for me as they are life principles that would guide and prevent her from making silly mistakes in life.

Thank you so much for reading my blog. If you’d love to share your pesrpective on this topic I’d appreciate it.

I'm sure your younger self would appreciate this life changing moment spent with you.
I particularly love the "trust your instincts." It never lies. I've avoided so many problems, even life threatening situations because of trusting my instincts.
