No matter how much we struggle with accepting how things should be and how they are, one thing that is for certain is that we are the only reason for a major change. We often think that change is hard and impossible, but that’s just what we tell ourselves to make us feel relaxed and comfortable. Sometimes I do ask myself why I struggle so much with change even when I can see clearly that it will do do me only good if I change some things about myself.
Well, the truth is, change always seems hard because it will do us great good. I’m sure this is part of the reason why someone once said that “nothing good comes easy”. We live in a time when so much around us is changing and the only way to keep up is to change with it. But this is hard also because, as humans, we are built to test everything around us and only settle for what feels right to us. So if we fail to identify with the right things, we will obviously just suffer the consequences of our bad choices.

So, it’s totally fine to resist change at first, and that’s because not every change is needed or good. Sometimes we are just better off where we were. But the moment we see a need for change and still resist going for it, we are probably going to regret that choice for a really long time. There are a lot of things we consider before allowing ourselves to change, but there is one major thing that stops us changing, especially when we know we need that change, and that one thing is pride.
Pride goes before a fall, as the wisest man said. Most times we feel too proud to humble ourselves to change. We see change as surrendering. We see it as losing, and that makes us fail to see the bigger picture. This is often seen in cases when the person who is in need of change is older, richer, more knowledgeable, and more. They feel too big to surrender to needing a change. They believe they are always right or, at least, they believe they can live with the consequences of whatever choices they have made even when there is a way to right their wrongs.
Stop resisting change because you think it will make you feel like a fool or make you feel less of yourself. It is usually the opposite. Accepting change when needed often brings out a better you.
Thank you for reading through. 💜
Change does feel like you're about to lose a big part of yourself for something you don't know yet. Which is why many people find it hard to embrace real change because most times we just want to settle for what we already have than seek other available option that might be better.
If only we can know what we will gain in return it'll be much easier to embrace change. But life doesn't work that way.
That’s one power that we have - making the choice. We can’t always know what the outcome of our choices will be but we should always be ready to accept whatever the outcome will be.
Change is hard especially when we don’t have the right people around us. One mistake we always make is thinking we are better off without people.
In the short term, change is meant to be hard, but one needs to look past that and think long term, especially the compounded consequences of not changing.
Sometimes, those who think they're too big to fail, tend to have the most spectacular changes. The more we resist change, the harder it gets when it eventually comes.
Well said, Takhar. I totally agree with you. 🥰
