RE: The black, the white, and the murkiest greys.

It's a testament to how bad things are in the world when we can watch a dozen different media channels and get at least 3-4 different perspectives on what happened in any given scenario. Because... POLITICS!!! Surely the truth is immutable. And there is only one truth. People can spin whatever narrative they choose but ultimately, whatever is going on here in Hawaii and Maui, there is one thing that started the different fires... and if the answer is A it cannot also be B. And how do the media have such a different perspective from those on the ground? It's crazy. For me, the end result, which doesn't change, regardless of the narrative, is incredibly sad. Whether the fires were part of an orchestrated plan, whether the incompetence and ineptitude of the response teams literally fuelled them further, and/or whether the whole shebang was an unfortunate accident, the fact that people are now trying to capitalise on the pain and loss of the residents is appalling... despicable. I hope those on the ground with first-hand knowledge do choose to share. I hope your friend is ok. Seeing those pics in mainstream media of young kids masked up in the sea, almost disappearing amidst the haze and smoke from the fire was awful - how is it possible there was nobody there to rescue them in this day and age?
