You’re A Ten. Always Have Been

IMG_0813.jpeg

Earlier today, while texting with an acquaintance, I noticed my phone’s battery had run down to nine percent, so I informed him to give him the hint that I would be going offline but his immediate reply, “A nine, one short of who you are,” completely made my day.

I mean something about the simplicity of that line tugged at my heart. I think it's because lately, I’ve been feeling a little less like myself. I’ve been tired, mostly unmotivated and constantly chasing the idea of prolly being more if I’m to put it that way. But those words after I read them stayed on me, reminding me of how often we measure our worth by what’s missing, not by what’s already there. So I thought why not turn it into a blog post, one that is thoughtful enough to make someone else smile too?

It beats me how most of the time we dwell on the undone tasks, the unhealed parts of us, the almost achievements, or the acne on our faces forgetting that even in our incompleteness, there’s beauty and there’s effort and there’s heart.

My aim here is to remind you that no matter how drained or uncertain you are about either your weight, face, or life achievements, always remember that you’re a ten. Always will be. No subtraction.

Sometimes it infuriates me when I think of how much time we spend in front of the mirror trying to prove ourselves to the world, to people, even to our own reflection. But for real, we really don’t have to earn our worth. You don’t have to prove too much to anyone to be guaranteed love, kindness or the beautiful things the universe has to offer. You already are all of those things. You’ve just forgotten how to see it.

So if you feel low today, if you feel like your human battery is running out, remember and tell yourself that you are not one short of enough. You are soft and flawed and still pretty magnificent. You are effort and chaos and beauty intertwined.

You’re the ten, always have been, the kind that doesn’t fade even when the light flickers. Period!

You know, this was such a delightful read. I know that feeling. Especially when I’m taking pictures and my brain begins to pick apart the image, noting the inconsistencies, the exhaustion and my eye bags… the red eyes and slightly large nose… lol. There’s always something not good enough. Thank you so much for this. Out of the physical, it takes a lot too to focus on how much we are growing rather than how less we have achieved. I really love this post. Thank you so much.

Trust me, I've been there. More times than I count. Lol.

Thank you so much for this.

I love you, @teknon - you are always a 20 to me.

Omg, I’m crying. This is so sweet, I might just frame it and put it up on my wall.
I love you too, you don’t know how much🥹❤️

Aww, love my Hive fam xx I always believe you should tell people they are appreciated, because you never know when they need it right now. I did it to a mate the other day - I hadn't seen her in a very long time and out of the blue I sent her a song I thought she'd like and an 'I love you'. Turns out she was coming home from work bawling her eyes out and feeling really lonely and isolated. My message came at just the right time. Your post was so lovely, and I hope lots of people read it and feel a little better about themselves today. xx

You're such a thoughtful soul, honestly. I love how intentional you are about people.

Do have a beautiful week ❤️
