VALUE of YOU

Life is full of mystery and has a lot of uncertainties. Some days can be very meaningful for us, and some days can be so heavy to take in. Initially, it gives us the feeling of being on a rollercoaster ride. There are many ups and downs: mistakes and success; failures and achievements; negativity and positivity; sadness and joy. Everybody wants to have tomorrow, but not everyone is ready to face what tomorrow brings. Everyone is willing to do everything to experience that degree of fulfillment, but they are not willing to accept its consequences open-handedly. Most, if not all, wanted to be shaped as shadows of their idols or mentors. They wanted to be like them, or perhaps "be them,” so to speak. But as a man becomes a copy of his idol, is he truly happy? Can it feed its nature of greed? Or would man find another idol to chase higher?

Man should not measure success and happiness by how much they become alike with their idols or the ones they look up to. Each human being has his own unique characteristic that nobody else has. Humans may have similarities, but always remember that there is only one, you. The concept of having idols or someone that a man looks up to should be used as an inspiration to grow, but not his ultimatum to become like them solely. As much as man wants to improve, he has the tendency to also adapt the subjective “good” of that individual into his being, which may lead to his setbacks. It may come out as beneficial and supplementary during the process, but such trivial occasions and instances will not suffice long for its true nature or effect, which will surely surface as consequences of such acts.

Man may stumble and be rejected by many; the opinions he speaks and suggestions he shares may not be relevant and taken seriously by others, yet these inconvenient outcomes that man experiences should not be his reason to lose hope of hearing "you"—yourself. The writer wants to tell you that one must not belittle or invalidate himself because of the unfavorable things that may happen to him. Moreover, man’s potential is only limited because of his mentality and if he is in the wrong environment. Your value and importance will never be recognized if you are in the wrong environment. Instead, the potential, capability, and capacity that you’re equipped with will remain dormant and insignificant, which is the most fearful thing you can do to your fellow beings for the reason that man has no rewind button, you are only privileged enough to have one life, and you can’t get another. Better to explore and discover with failures and obstacles than live with regret of doing nothing or be led by someone else. Learn to love and accept the inevitable changes and imperfections that surround you; learn to embrace change and redirection; and keep in mind that it is better to focus on polishing those good characteristics in you rather than be a side character in others’ stories. What we are can’t be labeled by anyone, nor can it be plotted ahead by someone. It should be from within; in that way, you can be truly happy. Keep smiling.
