Well, I really do not know which the most judgmental animal is. But based on my experience, which I would be sharing with y'all, it's definitely a dog.
And when I talk about dogs, am not talking about the like soft Rottweilers, and all of those. Nah, I am talking about those kinda dogs that do sit quietly and watch, those ones that rarely bark, and will even run away when they do.
One particular weekend, it was during the festive season then, I was with my cousins, they were the Tiktok type and were trying to make a video outside. Well, it happened that they dragged me to be among them and we did a little practice before setting the camera.
We set the camera and began, but then it wasn't good at all, we kept missing our steps, I personally became shy so I wasn't even flowing.
"Ok, let's go again from the beginning," Tolu, the oldest of us said.
She moved to the phonestand and pressed okay, counting down from 5.
"Five, four, three, two....go" Tolu said.
But then, our legs was still giving us away. We kept missing our steps. And it happened that our neighbors dog was nearby, lying down quietly and looking at us. It has been there since, staring at us and at the nonsense we were doing 😞.
Just then we heard, "is this acting or what are they even doing."
We looked around, there was nobody in sight. Every other person was in the backyard cooking, who talked?
Just then, the dog tilted it's head and gave out a weird smile, then we all turned to him and heard him say, "if you people don't know what to do again, better consider learning a handwork, you can't make it with this." He sounded final, and that word hit.
My oldest cousin almost sent the dog away with a stick, but we held her and said we should try again, we should disgrace that dog that thinks we won't get it right.
We have it another shot, and while trying to make a turn, jump and land, about three of us fell. You can't believe the kind of laughter this dog gave, the dog gave a loud and sarcastic laugh that made me feel too ashamed too even get up.
I stood up to find the dog standing up too, it moved some steps closer to us, laid down back and said, "my eyes have seen enough today."
The deepest and worst insult came when we tried and failed for the fifth time, the dog stood up, stretched, shook it's head and walked away. It didn't bark, nor did it say anything. It just walked away, it looks as if it was saying, "Adults for that matter."
Well, even we know we had done rubbish, the video would have gone viral if it was posted as a funny video or such. But we didn't post it, we just went in silently, no one talking or blaming the other.
Ever since then, I've been careful especially when that dog is nearby. I can't afford to be ridiculed or judged.
