Mi nombre es Amy, tengo 23 años y vivo en Cuba. En los últimos meses varios amigos me han hablado sobre su experiencia en Hive y cómo han conocido y compartido con personas de otros lugares del mundo con gustos similares, así que decidí venir y formar parte.

My name is Amy, I am 23 years old and I live in Cuba. In recent days some friends have told me about their experience in Hive and how they have met and shared with people from across the ocean with similar ideas, so I decided to come and be part of it.

Soy de un pueblo minero en la zona Oriental de Cuba. Mi generación tuvo una infancia con las carencias materiales típicas del sistema político cubano, pero mentiría si dijera que no fuimos felices.
a little about me...
I am from a mining town in the eastern part of Cuba. My generation had a childhood with the typical material deficiencies of the Cuban political system, but I would be lying if I said that we were not happy.

En busca de un mejor futuro
Cuando tenía 15 años mi familia y yo decidimos mudarnos a la capital en busca de mejoras económicas y nuevas oportunidades. Estudié Logopedia 4 años. En ese tiempo estuve trabajando con niños y adolescentes con Necesidades Educativas Especiales (autismo, Síndrome de Down, discapacidad intelectual, sordomudos). Aprendí muchísimo de ellos y me llevé lecciones de vida que nunca olvidaré.
Searching for a better future
When I was 15 years old, my family decided to move to the capital searching for economic improvements and new opportunities. I studied speech therapy for 4 years. I was working with children and adolescents with Special Educational Needs (autism, Down Syndrome, intellectual disability, deaf and dumb). I learned a lot from them and took away life lessons that I will never forget.

Actualmente estudio Comunicación Social. Tengo muchísimo interés por todo lo relacionado con el comportamiento humano. Conocer qué elementos nos llevan a las personas a reaccionar de determinada manera según qué situación, las relaciones con individuos de la misma especie y de otras distintas. A veces intento, mediante la fotografía conceptual, sacar de alguna manera ese lado filosófico de la vida.
Constant learning
I am currently studying Social Communication. I am very interested in everything about to human behavior. Know what elements lead people to react in a certain way depending on the situation, the relationships with individuals of the same species and other different ones. Sometimes I try, through conceptual photography, to somehow bring out that philosophical side of life.

Habilidades especiales para personas especiales
Estudié dos semestres de psicología como asignatura en la universidad, y aprendí diversas técnicas de evaluación de la personalidad, además de escritura y lectura en braille y lengua de señas. Gracias a esas habilidades he podido comunicarme en situaciones cotidianas con personas sordas, como mi antigua peluquera :)
Special skills for special people
I studied psychology for two semesters in college, I learn personality assessment techniques, braille and sign language. These skills have helped me to communicate in everyday situations with deaf people, like my hairdresser :)

Me encanta estar en contacto con personas y comunidades vulnerables, escucharles, entender sus problemáticas y hacer oír sus voces. Gracias a eso he conocido a gente maravillosa.
I love to visit vulnerable communities, listening to people, understanding their issues and making their voices be heard. I have met wonderful people.

Pasiones
Viajar es otra de mis grandes pasiones, aunque no lo hago tanto como me gustaría. Ir a otras ciudades de mi país, al sitio donde nací y hablar con gente de áreas rurales sobre sus historias de vida.
Passions
Travel is another of my great passions, although I don't do it as much as I would like. Go to other cities in my country, to the place where I was born and talk to people from rural areas about their life stories.

El tema de la sostenibilidad ambiental es otra de mis áreas de interés. Los espacios naturales me dan muchísima paz, adoro estar en contacto con la naturaleza. En Cuba tenemos sitios muy bien conservados, y otros totalmente contaminados por la acción del ser humano.
The issue of environmental sustainability is another of my areas of interest. Natural spaces give me a lot of peace, I love being in contact with nature. In Cuba we have very well preserved sites, and others totally contaminated by human action.

Me encanta la fotografía. Salir con la cámara a caminar por los rincones de La Habana y captar con el lente a personajes típicos de los barrios es una de las cosas que más disfruto hacer.
I love photography. Going out with the camera to walk around the corners of Havana and capture typical neighborhood characters with the lens is one of the things I enjoy doing the most.

Hace dos años en casa decidimos adoptar un gato callejero. (Díganle hola a Puchi 😻) Llegó muy enfermo, lleno de parásitos y con un ojo en muy malas condiciones. Hoy es un gato hermoso y cariñoso.
Two years ago we decided to adopt a cat from the street. (Say hello to Puchi 😻) He arrived very sick, full of parasites and with an eye in bad condition. Today he is a beautiful and sweet cat.
