Hace 11 años en Abril del 2013 creamos el grupo de Facebook "Bitcoin México", el primero en el país. Unos meses antes se había creado Bitcoin Argentina, y ya tenía más de 5,000 miembros.
En esa época era dificil comunicarse o encontrar con personas de la comunidad. No existían empresas ni eventos en México de Bitcoin, y solo había pocos usuarios. La mayoría de los usuarios usaba pseudonimos, y nos comunicabamos a través de foros en internet, yendo a pequeños eventos en algún lugar del mundo o en las mensajerias de las primeras plataformas de intercambio como localbitcoins.
No existían las wallets web, tenías que bajar todo el blockchain y usar la cartera de Bitcoin Core, Bitcoin-QT y las primeras plataformas de intercambio comenzaban a permitir a usuarios usar sus carteras sin bajar la blockchain, aunque eran carteras custodiadas.
El grupo se creó para reunir a la pequeña comunidad de emprendedores, curiosos, programadores que existían y conocíamos en ese momento. Llegó a ser uno de los grupos principales en México. Pero se dejo de tener actividad y moderación en los últimos años. Recientemente volvimos a la actividad dentro del grupo

The group was created to bring together the small community of entrepreneurs, curious people, programmers that existed and we knew at that time. It became one of the main groups in Mexico.
