Without stressing this fact, man is a social being. We like to interact, be around people and have people rely on us for some things. This is part of our nature. The younger ones tend to build friendships fast and sometimes lose them faster.
Friends are people who stick by us in good times and bad times. They are the ones who tell us when we have done wrong and help correct us. They are the ones who understand us and enjoy spending time with us. They are a part of our life and circle.
