There are some things certain youths and communities do that attract automatic curses, and to some extent, these curses pass on to other innocent generations, which is always so painful.
I read a story online last week about a man who bought a piece of land somewhere. When he wanted to develop the land, the community youths came up and told him he couldn’t develop it because it wasn’t his land. The man explained everything and showed all the documents proving he legally acquired the land, but no explanation seemed to work. He said he had to pay for the land a second time. In the comment section of that post, someone else shared a similar experience and mentioned that in their community, the same thing happens, especially when the land buyer is not an indigene. He added that he had noticed that the youths in that community, especially those who participated in such acts or whose parents did, never seem to prosper. No matter how high they rise in life, something always happens that brings them back to square one.
Immediately I read that story and the comments, I remembered a seminar I attended in 2020 in Uyo. It was about wealth, growth, and investment. The guest speaker, who was a pastor and a real estate expert from another state, spoke so well that I admired him. At a point, he talked about “hindrances to wealth” and mentioned that some of those hindrances also affect longevity. Interestingly, one of the factors he raised as a hindrance to growth, wealth, and longevity was the act of people selling land a second time to someone who had already purchased it.
In his sermon, he shared a story about a nearby community in his hometown. He said the community is blessed with natural resources that could make them rich, yet they hardly experience any form of development. He also mentioned that the youths there live unfulfilled lives, linking it to the same act of forcing landowners to repurchase their own land before developing it.
These stories are quite enlightening, but the sad and funny part is that if you look around, this same thing is happening in many places. It is gradually becoming a normal practice, and sadly, the youths are following in the wrong footsteps, attracting unnecessary curses to themselves while the elders do little or nothing about it. Personally, I have heard several similar cases before.
I often wonder how someone can use their hard-earned money, their sweat, to acquire land and complete all legal documentation, only for some people, either the children or relatives of the seller to come later and say that the land transaction was with their father, not with them, and that the buyer must either pay again or leave the land.
The truth is, some people might not have the money to pay again. They will walk away in pain, shedding tears and leaving the land behind. Others may pay again, but with bitterness and sorrow in their hearts. Do you know what that means?
There are certain curses that one doesn’t even need to pronounce with words, they happen automatically, just as blessings do.
I don’t know why this write-up is coming up today or who needs to hear it, but I feel we should retreat from some harmful habits, lifestyles, and actions. Elders of the land should also address these issues to save future generations from suffering for sins they did not commit. If you have done such a thing before, seek forgiveness. If you are planning to, please stop. Because sooner or later, it will surely come back to haunt you. The law of karma is a natural law, and it still works perfectly.
No matter how right a wrong may appear, it can never truly be right, and no matter how wrong a right may seem, it remains right. Let us watch our steps, our actions, and our inactions.
Shalom.
It's so unfortunate that such treachery is happening and it is left unattended to by the government. How can you repurchase your own land for a second time because the relatives of the seller didn't agree to the first purchase? It's not reasonable at all.
No wonder as you said those people who engage themselves in such act don't prosper at all regardless of what they do.
It's very bad my brother.
