WHAT IS LIFE

in Hive Naijayesterday

In this life we ought to be grateful for the breath we have and the ability to do whatever we want to do whether we are lacking in resources or in abundance. As a man you need to be cautious, decisive and resolute in your decision because at times life won't give you the chance to correct your mistakes and errors which you have made but rather you will be left to bear the consequences of everything.

I have gone to alot of place's, learnt alot of things from different cultures and also I have seen how some people react in their good and bad times while being frustrated and pressured, but in that same condition, they still try to be strong by not allowing emotions overwhelm them. I consider people who have self control over themselves and their emotions very strong and I respect them alot for that.

At the beginning of this week I saw a very baffling scenario that left me wondering and thinking at the same time. There is this manager of a construction company whom am close with because my boss and their boss are good friend and they are also CEOs of their respective construction company, so on Monday I was at their company trying to sort out some things with our vehicles that was there and when I asked about him I was told he went to the hospital with his son for treatment.

They said his son was sick hat was why he wasn't present that morning and that he might be back later in the day and so I did what I needed to do and left. 30 minutes later I was told they were transferred to a specialist hospital due to the severity of the child health but only for me to find out after 2 hours that the child gave up while he was being transferred there.

Here is where the situation gets baffling and confusing for me, while still mourning the death of his son that morning, his in-laws came and arrested him with police officers claiming that he was responsible for the child's death. I mean how can a father kill his only son and feel deeply sad and troubled about it?

He was locked in the police cell for 3 days while still mourning his son before he was granted bail afterwards. Part of the reasons that I was able to understand was that his father-in-law claimed his daughter has been missing for 8 years but that was not true because that same daughter was living in her father's house for that 8 years while giving birth to her husband's kids, so you see that wasn't a reason enough.

The truth was that he hasn't paid her dowry right from the onset and the woman has been giving birth to his children till now when he lost his son and the family decided to use it as an excuse to humiliate and frustrate him thereby pushing him to the wall.

To be frank I feel like they overdid it by choosing that moment to humiliate him that way.

So I ask myself if he had paid her dowry before now will they still behave that way or that's just who they are and the way their culture is.
