There are a lot of things I do thank my parents for, then it was like we are being punished like every children does but when we get older we realized this things are not punishment but training that would help us in the journey of life. One of the things my parents taught me and I got to thank them when I got older now is contentment. We were discipline a lot back then about contentment. The training were really hard on us then, we can't visit our friends at home, we can't collect the little things from our parents close friends more less of an outsider.
For many years, we didn't have television in our house,since the old one spoilt , my dad refused to repair it and told us to face our books, we never for once go to our neighbor house for film like some other children do,if not our body will hear it.
My parents do not treat us based on what other parents do to their child, or what other children does in the community but based on what they wanted for us, based on the important things and not bcos choices . We dare not cry for things they didn't do for us unless we want to really cry . They taught us not to allow anyone influence us. There were times everything was so tight for my dad that we would go to school without food and come back in the evening,no one will know we didn't eat. We were contented with what we have .
These trainings has shaped me to who I am today, I don't get intimidated by anyone , whatsoever, I'm always pleased with whatever I have. I go for things that are most important first rather than things that I need. I'm very good at saying. When I see some of my friends behavior that aren't pleased with what they have even when they have more than I do , they still come to beg, I look back and thank God for giving me my parents.
A real good training I will like to pass to my children as well .
