Someone Else’s Progress Doesn’t Mean You’re Behind

Comparison is often said to be a stealer of ones joy and to be honest, that's statement isn't far from the truth, and that's because of how such can lead to being downcast, depressed and even feel less of what they've achieved when compared with what others around them seem to be doing. But to be candid, I must start by saying while in truth that comparison can be a stealer of joy, we must also come to the understanding that not all comparisons are necessarily bad, below I'll go further to explain that and related stuffs around comparison.

Using a personal experience, I can vividly remember how I once compared mu life progress to that of a friend and at the end I began to feel bad about myself and almost everything that concerns me, this friend seems to be having a speedy progress and getting opportunity upon opportunities and these made me feel like ain't I doing enough, how come this guy is making wave and I seem to be on the same spot. The incident almost made me begin to wish I was born by a wealthy parent, because at the end of the day I realised most of what he got and how he kept on rising, wasn't necessarily because of his own doing, but because of his father statues in the society and financially.

But then, at the end of the day, I was able to come to my sense and understood that life isn't a competition, although it's a race but we're not competing against anyone, we all have our different journeys and path to follow, and when you compare yourself to someone, you might end up following their path and miss your way ultimately. So rather that get jealous of someone's progress, we should learn to be genuinely happy for those who are rising, while working towards our own success, don't make someone else progress be the reason why you'll be downcast.

Also like I said above in the first paragraph, comparison isn't necessarily bad, it's how we deal with it afterwards that matters, some people's sees others succeed and begin to envy them, to the point where they'll leave their own goal and start focusing on the person. You can see someone succeed, celebrate with them, while still comparing how far they've come with yours, so you can pick of inspiration or motivation not to give up on your own dreams, so you can also be celebrated.

Overall, it's best we understand that life isn't a competition and also learn to be contend and genuinely happy for those that are winning, doing this helps you cleans your heart of harmful thoughts that could cloud your mind to the point where you'll derail of your own path to fulfilling purpose. Most of all, you need to come to the understanding that the fact that someone's else is progressing doesn't mean you're behind or you're not experiencing progress on your own life.
