The Power—and Peril—of Remembering

in SciFi Multiverse21 hours ago

The last is a vital part of our life's journey and often plays a vital role in making the right decision in the present so we can have a great future. Like we all know, our past is what makes up history, but then we all know it's quite difficult to hold onto every part of what happened in the past due to how our human memories work and how we tend to forget some details as time passes by. For that reason, if we get to have an innovation that makes it possible for us to not forget our past event again, because they can now be recorded and replaced at will, I will like such innovation and want to be a part of it to the point of catching a glimpse of my past at will.

In my opinion, recording one's past and being able to record it is actually a two-way thing; in one aspect it seems great and worth doing, and on the other hand, it seems wrong and unnecessary. And I'd explain why I said so. Firstly, why I said it seems wrong is because we even have a saying that encourages us to learn to let go of the past, because holding onto the past can deprive us of the opportunity to progress or grab onto new things that the present has in store for us. So when you hold on to the past to the point where you keep replaying it, you might become so attached to your past accomplishments that you'll not have time to try new things that could elevate you.

On the other hand, and on a positive note, having one's past recorded and being able to replay it at will can be a blessing in disguise, because we have the saying that the past is a good predictor of the future, so that's, in a nutshell, saying that the ability to get the full details of our past experience can play a vital role in guiding our present decisions and actions so that we won't fall into the same trap we've once fallen into. Take for instance some of our childhood pains have been forgotten; being able to record and replay it not only helps us be careful but also helps us be a better parent that can share our own experience to better guide our own children in their path to adulthood.

With both aspects being thoroughly examined, now is the time I make my decision, and my response to this is more or less advice to myself and everyone who might want to decide to do it: being able to walk out past experience can be great and helps us a lot in decision-making, avoiding troubles, and having a better life, but I must understand that getting too attached to it can be really bad for growth too, and that's why I'll learn to do it moderately, not be too dependent on the past, as much as I needed it for different things, so that's about it on my take on this.
