Rewriting Fate: A Cure for Genetic Diseases

There are many diseases well known to have no cure, like AIDS, so many that take life regardless.
But if I had the power to create a cure for any disease. I would choose genetic diseases. Unlike other diseases that can come and go or can be treated or avoided one way or the other, genetic diseases are inscribed in the DNA—the blueprint of life. There is no running, no avoiding or no treatment; having a genetic disease feels like fate and destiny itself are after you for no reason.

Genetic diseases don't just affect people physically. It's something that would affect my mentality if I had it; it would affect my spirit. Just imagine being born with a disease that makes you feel like an error because genetic diseases are literally genetic coding errors.
I have seen people's families struggle and suffer; children live dependent on hospital visits. Dreams dimmed before they could even start. Young lives are cut short simply because of an error.

What makes genetic diseases more devastating is that a person can live right and do everything required to be healthy, no smoking, no drinking or anything, but still there is no escape. It's like the person is trapped in a cage where there is no hope for escape.

Or is it diseases like sickle cell anemia, where kids are often born into misery and suffering because of parents' lack of education or ignorance? I have even heard of some people who are fully aware and still choose to go through with everything because they aren't the ones to feel the pain of their decisions.
And then you see innocent children whose lives are ruined by pain before they are even born.

I was watching the series shameless and when I saw how Ian inherited bipolar from his mom and it almost ruined his life in a flash I cried a lot. People go through such in real life!

Although great scientist are making progress on genetic disorders, a lot will still suffer before we get there.
If I had the power, I would rewrite and correct that little error that causes so much pain to innocent people.
Trust me, inherited pain isn't it. I would restore hope, dignity and a fair chance at a full, good life to millions of children born with genetic disorders.
