Today, I share with you my first sketch with a pen. And this turns out to be; Darth Maul (The guy who killed Qui Gin Jinn the master of Obiwan Kenobi in Star Wars I - The Phantom Menace.) Darth Maul was one of my favourite Star Wars character as a kid, his two faced lightsaber was magical. Here you have it, Darth Maul;
The Outline
This being my first sketch ever with a pen, I had loads of doubts, most of which bordered around losing proportion and not being able to gain balance. So I started lightly.
The moment I gained the right proportion, I immediately began adding depth and in no time, my confidence was restored.
What proved most difficult was getting the right tones/shades of red. For the varied highlights in the reddish zones, I used about 4 different pens. And I must confess it actually gives me an unspeakable joy knowing this is my first sketch with a pen.
