There is no place like home....

In a matter of days, our lives have been taken over by a virus that is unknown to us.  Is it a bad thing or is it a good thing? There are both negatives and positives in every situation, but I am so extremely tired of everything surrounding this virus that I don’t even want to switch on the television anymore.

There have been jokes, songs, cartoons, etc and we all laughed.  We laughed and then we cried.  So many people have been killed by this virus, it is unimaginable. Who would’ve thought that something like this could bring the whole world to a standstill?

I might not be the sharpest pencil in the packet, but it is not rocket science that we should all take this more seriously.  If I watch the videos still circulating on WhatsApp about people here in South Africa not taking this seriously, I see a great tragedy unfolding in the next few weeks.

People are selfish and just don’t care about others, but themselves. They are still shopping as if their lives depend on it.  No masks, gloves, and some even refuse to use the hand sanitizer at the shops.

Just because you are not sick doesn’t mean you can’t infect others!

The funniest thing I have ever heard came from a WhatsApp I received last night.

How to cope with the people you live with.....

Have we really come to a point in our lives where we have to be taught how to cope with the people that live with us?

Have we really become so addicted to shopping malls, gyms and coffee shops that we can’t cope with the people at home?

Have we become so equipped with ME time that we forgot how to cope with family members? This is a time where we can build new relationships with our partners and our children.

How much time in a week do you usually spend with your family? We are so busy that we have forgotten what it is to be a family.  We have forgotten how to function as a family unit.

A long time ago, before technology took over our lives, we used to spend time with our families.  We knew each other and we didn’t have to be taught to cope with our families.

Perhaps this virus didn’t only come to heal the world, but to help us get our priorities in order.

Perhaps we will realize once again THERE IS NO PLACE LIKE HOME!

Use this time wisely.  Do not see it as a punishment.  You are saving lives but following the rules and regulations.  This thing is much bigger than we think and the impact it will have on the world is an overwhelming thought.

Be wise and sanitize but stay the &*%$ at home!

Love it! I'm sure it's different for every household, @giantbear. Ours is fairly harmonious right now with four of us at home. We do our own thing a lot, but then we cook great meals and sit down to dinner together every night. As much as I'm challenged by being restricted, I'm using it as an opportunity to enjoy being home, hanging out with my family and having nice meals together. I will miss this.
