It's Been Awhile: My Official Introduction On HIVE & What's Been Happening Here

To say I've been busy around the homestead over the last few weeks is an understatement. Mr Golden D has been home (as he is not considered an essential worker) and we've been getting caught up on so many tasks, experimenting in the kitchen and I've been focusing on the spring garden, seedlings and other gardening tasks. But I wanted to officially re-introduce myself to everyone on the platform.

In The Kitchen:

I've been experimenting with some culinary treats in our kitchen over the last month. Some GREAT recipes have come out and life has been GREAT!

Here are some of the delicious meals I made (and have no fear... posts will be forthcoming). And the smoker has been getting its use more than I ever thought possible.

  1. Lamb Kofte (lamb kabobs)
  2. Stromboli with homemade crust
  3. Smoked salmon
  4. Spinach pasta with cashews and strawberries
  5. Smoked pork butt for pulled pork
  6. Canning up 18-pounds of corned beef
  7. Poached eggs in the oven
  8. Brown sugar and pepper bacon
  9. Homemade pita bread

In The Garden

Seedlings are everywhere in the house; from the main bathroom garden tub to the kitchen windowsills. I have so many (new) herbs taking hold plus quite a few other garden plants germinating as well as growing taller every day. I have plans of a huge container/bucket garden here and all the seedlings appear to be cooperating so far.

I even received my "Free Seeds" from a gardening project I learned about online.

As I said, it has been a whirlwind of activity here. And more plans are in the works.

It has been quite crazy ...
And the city folk are now envious of the Home Steaders...haha
I am finally learning to cook and eat in everyday...
Seeing the list of things you have been busy with tells me I am not doing even 10% of you are ... well not yet :D

Welcome to Hive :D

How's that bread coming along?

So sorry for this late reply...
The flour is sitting pretty in the cabinet 🙃
Actually thank you for the reminder
Bread is no longer so hard to find so of course, I have been stalling
But yes, thank you for the reminder.
I trust you are doing well...
It's anytime now right
All the best @metzli❤️

Ohhhh. It's so good to see you here.

I've been cooking, and more importantly, eating!

Today is supply day so I will don mask and gloves and head to the store. It's been 11 days :)

I'm not generally much for Lamb, but kabobs look mighty tempting...

Good job making productive use of your time. We've been doing a lot of outdoor yard work - power washing the house and the concrete drive and front porch. It feels good to get things accomplished! That's a lot of delicious sounding dishes - I'll looking forward to their posts with recipes.

So good to see you, @goldendawne! Your projects sound wonderful and it is no surprise they are keeping you busy. That is a lot of work! But the rewards must be amazing — the food you have made and put up and the meals with family. 😊

With summer approaching and time to plant seedlings your time sure sounds like a whirlwind of activities!

Great to see you again, it has been some time with all the switching over and moving around, then going into a situation of becoming housebound, definitely times are a changing.

Trust you had a wonderful Easter weekend, I look forward to seeing results in your garden as the months roll out.

I hope all your seeds grow well!!
