My thoughts on HIVE of late by @jasonbu

I put this post together at the behest of a long time Hive acquaintance, @jayna. She posted her thoughts on HIVE as an entry to a contest put on by @jaynie, called Share your thoughts on HIVE of late & WIN THE POST EARNINGS!.

I'm not sure if I'm one of those people that stepped back. Admittedly I took a break late spring to the end of the summer, my mind just wasn't there. It wasn't something that I wanted to do... but COVID, right? I'm still active in the military and was on notice for any sort of COVID response and assistance. My and my family's lives became day-by-day, waiting for a call. Then the summer culminated with me away for training. I recently unpacked, finally.

My thoughts...? Well, they too tend to push towards a malaise or maybe what I would describe as a fog. You know there is something there but it's just not clear. There is an underlying sentiment that nothing is happening with Hive and that we have stalled.

But have we? Have we really stalled?

From technology moves forward I wouldn't say that is the case. Just sit on the Hive Dev Discord channel and you would see a ton of activity and lots of devs building. Things like second layer contracts, NFT's, games and there are a lot of Hive DAO funded projects out there. Yes, people will say blah, blah but what about this, blah, blah or that blah, blah. There's stuff there, for most technophiles.

What about the virtual HiveFest - that's going to be super cool! Are you going to attend?

What about engagement?

Depends where you look, I think. Depends on what topics you post. We're going busters in the Foodie community. I think the average comments on Hive posts are around 2 to 2.5.per. We're averaging a solid 4.5 per post. I've been spending a bit of time focusing on that community and token. I love to post about food, super easy topic to write about and something we do on a daily basis. We are all experts on that topic.

I've also been pushing my self on the fitness side. Need to keep up with all the youngsters so I use Actifit to do so. Again, it's an easy topic to post on. Don't get a bunch of comments or engagement though.

I try, I do the "call for action", pose a question, all the good stuff to get interactions. It usually goes unanswered. So, other than Foodie posts I don't get a whole lot of conversations going.

Do I want to throw in the towel?

Nope, I admit, I didn't focus too well during the first phase of COVID - Hive was sporadic for me, if not absent. I'm definitely working for the community now, and have backup support. I continue to juggle work-life balance and we can't forget Hive has to fit in there somehow.

So, general posts and user interactions seem to be blah. We are not seeing that on Foodie - lots of posts with a fairly high average number of comments.

I'm still around. I'll still post. Likely more food posts, coffee posts and fitness posts. I do think there is some fatigue out there but who doesn't love a great beer review, or a fantastic recipe or learning about a cultural tradition all around food!

Post your passion - focus.

I've used that word combo a lot - passion and focus. I think that's all we need - focus. Focus on your passion, post about your passion. Find a community that supports your passion. Post and support that passion by commenting and engaging with others that share it. Get back to having fun and watching others get excited when you comment or respond to their post.

Find your passion, share your passion and engage your passion. That's where the rewards are.

What's your passion?

Stay safe, stay healthy.

Yeah man, great points!

It depends on where you look...Plenty of engagement on certain tribes and communities. But you know most people focus on the price....If Hive goes on a bullrun here....Expect everyone to 'show up' again lol

I suspect that you are right. Until then ... build and post, build and post. Man, I should have thought about tagging you for the contest - LOL... brain farts. There we go... now this post is average with two comments - 😋

Ha ha ha ha ha 3 now ;)

No worries man, hope you are doing well!

Ya, Likewise - keeping my head above water.

Yes - fair weather friends!

:-) Fairweather is behind us now... at least for 6 months... 25cm of snow here on Sunday. More coming tomorrow... here we go! But I do enjoy the snow.

This is great, @jasonbu! Similar sentiments to what a lot of people are feeling, I think - that we aren’t going anywhere, but we may have some lulls in activity.

I’m so glad the Foodie community is going well! I have meaning to spend more time there!

Having some fun in the Foodie community, you should spend some time there. Still can't put my finger on it though - is it me or is it Hive?
