The happiest person in the world is the one who wants nothing more than what he/she already has, who enjoys company and solitude. Once the primary needs are satisfied, happiness is optional; more happiness is only found if the welfare of others is sought, because that awakening is lived again.
In life, people spend their time trying to live better than others, to stand out, but if everyone tries to do that, then who will stand out on, sometimes happiness is in going unnoticed and yet knowing that oneself is unique, every time someone has something more than the average, there is someone who has less than the average, each time someone receives something that has not been earned with their own effort, there is someone else who has tried much more than what they receive, life is too complex to be fair and yet it is our only chance to be happy.
They have taught us since we were little to want more than we have, to set goals that move us to do things that most of the time benefit others, the one who offers you a piece of heaven in the afterlife in exchange for something in this plane of existence, he/she is lying to you, because each effort must be of the same nature as what is intended, so happiness for helping others is not in the reward of the afterlife, it is in the happiness that is produced in another, it is an intrinsic value that allows that well-being in the people around us.
Sometimes advertising makes us think that we need things that we don't really need, no one escapes, those who have little want a little more, those who have a lot also want more, those who have everything go into a constant depression until they lose meaning in life or find the light and start helping others.

There is so much truth in this piece! Yesterday, I started watching a series called "After Life" and although I have only watched a few episodes so far, the message and theme of it is already very clear. Life is richer when we lift others up. Happiness is a funny thing... even when you give it to others, you get some for yourself :) Really lovely post and very inspirational.
