Finished Shelving, Hummingbird Dance, Darts, Fire, Grilling - Friday

in Homesteading11 months ago

I got to see my paragliding instructor live track from the paragliding world championship in France yesterday morning, and I am watching him finish today's tasks as I type. Super cool to see the track and see how he has been doing.

My main task for the day was to finish building the shelving and I got right to it. With the legs all build all I had to do was install the shelf boards to tie everything together.

It didn't take me too long before I had the other 2 sections built. The 4 foot wide shelves are super strong and can easily hold a lot of weight, more than I can put on them.

Soon I had all the boxes of books off the floor and on the shelves. I still have to deal with the lighting inside but with the sun beating on the metal box I had no desire to do it yesterday.

Quite pleased with how everything has turned out and we now have ample space available to now be able to organize the house and empty much of the attic.

So I was walking through the garden looking at the rows when I hear this crazy buzzing sound. I stopped and looked to the grapes where I saw a male hummingbird whipping back and forth in the air, it was flapping its wings crazy fast making the buzzing sound and it was zipping a foot either direction to impress the female who sat on the branch below. Dude landed on the vine above her and I could see him panting from the exertion. He did it a few more times before they both flew off into the trees on the hillside. I have NEVER seen a hummingbird mating dance before and it was mesmerizing.

I was throwing a session and couldn't help but laugh at the robin hood dart. Not the most common thing to happen.

I got to watch Barney barely win his match at the PDC Euros. It was day one and he managed to progress to today and he will be throwing in an hour or so.

I picked the boys up from school and they then spent a bunch of time throwing while the last matches were on.

Our board has been pissing me off to no end. The wires on the thing are an 1/8 inch wide and I have bounced darts of them more times than I could ever count. The boys have had a big problem as well so I decided to call it and yanked the wires off the board. I want it to be fun to throw, not frustrating and enraging.

The weather kept threatening all day but nothing ever came from it, the storms all stayed to the west of us.

A bit late but I got the fire going in the pit and built it up well.

I discovered something really random. I am as accurate throwing left handed as I am right. It is really rather odd to me that I am ambidextrous at throwing darts. With that I also got my 2nd robin hood of the day.

Then 10 minutes later I got the 3rd one of the day. I have never had more than one happen in a day. The board is SO much nicer to throw at without the wires. The boys don't need them that much and I hate them. I am going to be buying a new board but it will end up being mounted in the house to keep the board climate controlled so it doesn't go bad like our current one. Humidity is a killer of dart boards.

I grilled our burgers while I fought with the modem after the power went out for a moment. Lightning again made the power flash but when it came back on the modem wouldn't connect. It took until this morning for me to get it going again.

Soaked for probably too long for my skin.

Today I have a ton to do between greenhouse work, weedeating, hauling grass, cleaning and organizing, and I really have to go do some more kiting with my wing.

I have NEVER seen a hummingbird mating dance before and it was mesmerizing.

I have never seen one too but reading your story feels like I was there when everything happened 🥰

The shelving looks so good and I'm sure that it will come out well when you are done

I've tried disc golfing left handed.. #fail
