Yesterday morning I decided to go ahead and back the trailer across the garden once again to get a load of rocks hauled out. I managed to get the trailer quite far back compared to the prior loads which made it a bit easier to haul the rocks and boulders to it.
The ramp is a super tool for rolling the too heavy t lift rocks up onto the trailer.
After a while J came out and started helping load the smaller rocks.
Then R helped a bit at the end.
We got a healthy load of rocks on the trailer. R was engrossed in munching on the row of chives.
I have maybe 3 more loads and the rock wall will be all moved. I can remember it took me quite a while to build the wall a decade ago, making trip after trip in my old Toyota truck. The removal is taking far less time than the install.
The boys came out and gave me a hand with unloading the rocks into the new wall.
I am pretty stoked as the load ended up spanning two sections of the wire from the power pole guy lines. It leaves just one more section to set to the left which will end at the end of the wire run and right over the creek.
The wall base is now over 80 feet long and will end up over 10 feet long when done. I was unsure at first but then decided to just put the trailer away for the day as one load of rocks was enough.
Next project was to work on the sheep pen some more. This time I went to the smaller part of their pen where the bale and water is. I am removing the fencing and putting up the pallets in place.
I got the fencing down then hauled a pair of the 12 foot pallets over.
If you look on the right side you can see the 2 regular sized pallets. This was wrong. Those two sat at a screwy angle and made it too easy to push them open. That meant I had to redo the length by moving the two full size pallets to the other on the gate side and then the two smaller pallets to the other end.
I have them all tied together and the length came out fairly sturdy.
It was early afternoon when I got the fire going in the pit for the day. Cardboard makes for some nice "getting it going" flames and the added hunks of pitchy pine really kicked it into gear.
The roofs needed to be swept and the house was quick with the metal roof.
The shed was a bit harder due to the shingles. I really need to put a metal rood on the thing as I still have leftover chunks from the studio roof install.
As I was heading across the farm I saw the birds in their dirt bath wallowing around. It's fun watching them pecking around the dirt then trying to splash it up into their feathers. The rooster stood up after and shook off and it was a cloud of dirt and dust that billowed up around him.
Trying to clean up the inner yard means getting the wood split. The boys are having fun with it and are slowly plugging away. It takes R a long time to bash a wedge through the round but he is managing.
The rounds are a lot drier than the other trees so the wood is getting stacked close to the house. It will be nice and dried come next winter. The wood pile is also a nice privacy screen for us in the yard.
It was 6pm when I got the burgers on to grill. The washers pit is cleared now and the lane is raked clean of the wood debris. I look forward to the wood all being split and the rock wall gone so I can try to level then grass seed the area. I would like an area of actual lawn for once in my life.
I managed some soak time after a much needed shower but am not getting a long time due to my skin still.
Today I might get another load of rocks moved while I have the path across the garden still. Man Utd is playing this morning, more wood needs to be split, the sheep pen can get more pallets installed for fence, at some point I have trees on the hillside that need to be cut up and rolled down, and I have to make a list of where all the other boulders and rocks are around the farm to get moved out to the wall.

That shed needs a new roof..
Yeah I have been wanting to do it for a while. I have a bunch of 2 foot long leftover pieces of roofing that I want to layer over the shingles but need the roof to dry out a lot before then. This summer most likely I will get to it.
