
German Chancellor Angela Merkel talked by telephone with Libyan Prime Minister Fayez al-Sarraj on Thursday, a German government representative said in an announcement, asking him to move rapidly toward marking a truce.
The call came days after Khalifa Haftar, military officer of the rival side in Libya's thoughtful clash, visited Merkel for talks in Berlin.
"They talked about the current political and military circumstance," the announcement read. "The chancellor worried, as she did on Tuesday in her discussion with General Khalifa Haftar, the significance of marking the truce that was as of late concurred in Geneva by agents of the contention parties."
