How much of those funds are going to be given away?

100% of the funds will be given away. Even though it was more costly (around $785 to list each proposal, almost $1,600 in total) the proposals are separated into 2 distinct operations to increase the transparency of the operations and distribution.

How much is being used to "pay support systems and personnel"?

100%. For around 5 months we have been personally supporting all the costs of the contests and management teams, this proposal will help subsidize the costs and increase support communication available. During this time we have been operating, we have seen the Hive gaming community overtake the EOS gaming community. Do you think people will care about Hive when you give them free money? We already have such a system, it's called the rewards pool, but people are still leaving, why?

There is a strong barrier to entry for new users; the acquisition of minimal tokens to learn how to use the ecosystem and rewards pool, this is how bandwidth is distributed and protected.

Does it make Hive more valuable to give it away for free or does it make look like a shitcoin?

With strong management systems, giving away small amounts of HIVE should only help to increase disbursement and active users.

Marketing increases awareness. Although, marketing alone does not lead to user retention or to user satisfaction.

Does ETH have marketing?

Yes, ETH marketing is led by ETH Foundation and it is very active in starting sustainable marketing and development (Consensys for example), in fact ETH Foundation even funded the creation of UNI through a $250,000 grant.

Does UNI have marketing?

Yes, Mr. Adams is very active in raising awareness of the UNI protocol. His ability to capture market attention at the right moment in time is what I believe led to the wide adoption of UNI.

This question is not actually about the Goatgang proposals, but the proposal system itself - In general, the rate of ecosystem onboarding must outpace the rate of inflation.

Respectfully, I have a question for you my brother - What got you into Hive? How did you get your start, before being a witness, before learning all the ecosystem? For me, it was a gift of 5 Steem.
