Hello everyone
This morning, I woke up bright and early, feeling ready to hit the road. Before leaving, I made sure to say goodbye to my granddaughter, giving her a big hug. It was around 6:00 am when I finally set off from Rangsit University, heading towards Tak Province where my young sister lives. The drive was a long one, about 500 kilometers in total, but surprisingly, on the second day, I didn't feel as exhausted as I did on the first. I drove at a comfortable pace, enjoying the journey as much as the destination.
With each turn of the wheel, I found myself growing more accustomed to the steady hum of the engine and the ever-changing landscape outside my window. The hours passed in a blur of scenery and solitude, punctuated only by occasional stops for fuel and sustenance.
Around 1:30 p.m., I finally arrived in Mae Sot District, which is part of Tak Province. After the long drive, I was pretty hungry, so I decided to make a pit stop at my friend's restaurant before heading to my sister's place, which was about 40 kilometers away. My friend's restaurant is always a must-visit whenever I'm in town because he serves up some of the best food around. As I walked in, I was greeted by the familiar smells of delicious cooking. My friend welcomed me warmly and showed me to a table.
As I took my seat at the table, my friend wasted no time in showing their thoughtfulness. Knowing how much I love avocado smoothies, one of them had whipped up a glass for me. She placed it in front of me with a smile, and I couldn't help but feel touched by her gesture. The sight of that creamy green drink instantly made my mouth water. I reached for the glass, feeling the coolness of it in my hands. Taking a sip, I was met with the familiar taste of ripe avocado, blended just right. It was like a little taste of heaven in a glass.
Despite the tempting array of dishes laid out before me, I knew that my stomach could only handle so much. So, after much deliberation, I settled on the one dish I'd been craving the most: Nam Prik Ong, a delightful Northern Thai Chilli Dip. As the plate was brought to our table, my anticipation grew. The sight of the vibrant red chili paste accompanied by an assortment of blanched vegetables was enough to make my mouth water. The array of colors and textures promised a feast for the senses.
With eager anticipation, I dipped a piece of vegetable into the spicy chili paste and took a bite. The explosion of flavors danced on my tongue, each bite a perfect balance of heat and sweetness. It was everything I had hoped for and more.
To complement the dish, I also had two boiled eggs, perfectly halved, and a generous serving of steamed rice. The combination of flavors and textures was simply divine, leaving me completely satisfied with my choice.
Once my hunger was satisfied and my stomach content, I decided to capture the memories of the moment by snapping a few photos. With my friends gathered around, we reminisced about our childhood and shared stories from years gone by, laughter filling the air as we recalled fond memories.
Afterward, we decided to take a stroll around my friend's recently redecorated shop. The place had undergone quite a transformation, now boasting a charming fusion of food, souvenirs, and accessories. It was a feast for the eyes, with colorful displays and unique items catching our attention at every turn.
As we wandered through the shop, my friend excitedly pointed out new additions and shared stories behind some of the products. From quirky souvenirs to stylish accessories, there was something for everyone in this eclectic space.
We chatted animatedly as we explored, admiring the creativity and passion that had gone into curating such a diverse collection. It was a delightful experience, filled with laughter, good company, and the joy of discovery.
By the time we left, my heart felt full, not just from the delicious meal we had shared, but from the priceless moments of camaraderie and connection that had enriched our day. As we said our goodbyes and parted ways, I couldn't help but feel grateful for friendships that had stood the test of time and for moments like these that made life truly meaningful.
