Traditional rice cultivation is still being maintained by a number of farmers in my province. Although a number of agricultural technologies have entered Indonesia, farmers still rely on traditional planting.
A number of opinions assume, maintaining the traditional way of planting lowland rice because it is considered the most effective. So far, planting lowland rice in the traditional way, namely sowing the seeds directly after the land is plowed, is believed to maintain the quality of the local community rice plants.
Farmers using this method of growing rice assume good yields. And this is true. According to them, the seeds sown are the seeds of choice. This means that the rice that is prepared to be used as seed is of good quality and after being planted uses regular fertilizers according to the technical guidelines of the competent authorities in their area.
Rice cultivation in this traditional way has been on the way for a long time, and even though there is now technology that is able to do rice planting work, people still choose the traditional way.
In general, people get employment from traditional rice cultivation. When the planting season arrives, a number of independent farmers plant rice together with daily wages.
This process is still ongoing today, even before the rice cutting machine entered my province, farmers still used the services of the local community to harvest rice products traditionally.
But now, there are only jobs left in the planting season for small farmers. The harvest season has been done with machines and technology. Well, friends of the CCH community, that's a glimpse of the farmers in my area. Hope you enjoyed this post and it was useful!
