A gold mining State Park with museum at Shutter Mill, Coloma, CA, was the original site when first gold was discovered by James W. Marshall also marks as one of the ghost town.
Enjoy walk around and feel the life style back then while learn an incredible history about it. There was a statue of Marshall but it has been removed during BLM months ago.
49ers named after the year when they were arrived in 1849 at Coloma for the Gold Rush after gold was discovered by James W. Marshall. Then, the Coloma population soared from a thousand to 20,000. Not only from Eastern America, but they were from China, Europe, Australia and Mexico.
Just like nowadays, people unwind their tiredness after work by hanging out with friends at the bar, cafe, or even in the neighbor's front yard. This cafe is a witness for us to picturing their simplicity of life and their routine.
Houses around the ghost town, a truly simple look of the community back then.
Pictures of the equipment. It wasn't as big or as many as the equipment at the Empire Mine State Park.
Below is the only Museum we entered, the building is smaller than the main one but we decided not to go to the other Museum because there were too many people inside and my son was goofing around. We afraid he will annoy people inside.
There is a short trail of the railroad in there, but I couldn't take a picture because too dark inside.
Man Lee And Wah Hop. Chinese Store.
I entered and took some pictures of what they sold, a hanging display of the whole roasted pig, a set of Chinese tea cup and a small built oven by the side.
Hiking, kayaking, tubing along with mobile home parking areas, these activities for us to enjoy around the park.
If you had lived in those past years, what would you do? Would you be one of the 49ers or would you be the ones providing some supplies for all the 49ers? Or opening a grocery store or supplying their equipment?
The ones who became wealthy were the suppliers during that time.
Thank you for visiting my blog,
@lugina.
Very interesting. The park has a mobile home parking and a hammock to relax is also available. Would like to be there now.🙂
Really don't skip this place if you in town, it's a clean place over all with lot's of swimming holes. BTW, I love the hammock too. It's common here to bring hammock to the park and tie up to the trees.
history is never ending, I also want to visit historical places in my country.
always healthy for you @lugina
